This is a terrible fight and JMM would get embarassed again. Floyd is and always will be a terrible style matchup for him. If I was a JMM fan I wouldn't want him going anywhere near Floyd.

 

So if Mosley is such a draw amongst Mexicans why didnt his fights with Oscar do as well? He'll he's fought plenty of Mexicans never done a mil before.

And if Cottos so loved why was he fighting on HBO 10 years into his career unless he was fighting Pacquiao or Mayweather.

Mexican names aren't the majority when it comes to the most famous names in boxing (Louis, Robinson, Ali, Leonard, Tyson, etc).

The greatest Mexican of our era Marquez didn't achieve universal recognition until he KTFO manny.

Morales, a candidate for the most exciting Mexican of all time, had PPVs that did nowhere close to a million.

Oscar was white washed and heavily backed by the "American" media. Some Mexicans even disowned his ass.

 

He did 850,000 vs Hatton which is more than Cotto did vs Margarito. It also still holds the record in the UK. More than Hatton vs Pac or Haye vs Klit.

To put it in perspective its about the number of buys Oscar did vs Vargas and Mosley 2.

So against Hatton it would put Floyd around the top in PPV history.

What I'm trying to say is Oscar did numbers that no other Mexican has ever come close to, and Mexicans definitely didn't love him the most out of all their boxers. Oscar had something extra going for him; the American media liked to follow him. Like you mentioned earlier Floyd got mainstream exposure when he boxed Oscar. It allowed him to reel in America as a whole. Oscar laid the blueprint for doing great numbers by bringing in America and not just Mexicans.

manny who made quite the career beating up a few Mexicans, two who Mexicans absolutely loved more than DLH, wasn't known to the public until he beat Oscar.

It's the American public that a fighter needs to cater to in order to become a true blue star. Hosting fights on Mexican holidays is icing on the cake used to secure additional PPVs
