Nah he tries to act like that, but you can tell by his hurried nonsensical posting and over exaggeration of everythign that its slugger.

 

Agree on score and most of this content and opinion except I believe Floyd won on better conditioning. Cotto was turning the fight around through rounds 6-9 and right at that point he could have won the next round and evened it up, he started slowing down. If it weren't for that I believe Cotto may have very well taken over and won a UD, possibly hurt Floyd.

I also don't think Floyd was smiling in that manner at the blood. This was his embarrassed smile and tryin to front to the crowd like it didn't bother him. If it didn't bother him he wouldn't even have paid attention to it.

 

I had it a draw! Mayweather landed more shots but Cotto landed the harder blows... It was a close fight... Very close!

Floyd is great conditioned yes. Hardly any fighters around that can fight a full 12 with Floyd and match his intensity and not become fatigued from hitting arms and elbows, thank you for your brilliant analysis. Yes if Cotto had the conditioning of an automaton he might have made Floyd sweat in the 11th and 12th where he took such a bad pummeling the post fight interview with merchant looked like he was beaten with a bat. You are clearly quite an astute observer.

Lol. That landed on gloves nonsense doesnt work anymore dopey. They showed a post fight interview with Cotto and he looked like he had just fought Luis Resto.

Cotto outboxed Floyd in round 6 and outfought him in round 8.

Aside from that, he probably won another close round or two. Giving him three or four rounds in total sounds about right.

What impressed me the most was the way he constantly landed his jab. I knew he had a good jab, but I didn't know it would still be so effective against the best defensive fighter in the sport. He was countering Floyd with the jab and also leading with the jab from range, and even up close (at the ropes) he was using a short, compact jab to catch Floyd. There was one point where Floyd was doing his usual ducking and rolling routine at the ropes -- rather than smothering his own work and throwing wide punches, Cotto stayed at just the right distance, and when Floyd ducked low, Cotto actually waited for him to come up again and only then did he hit him right in the face with a jab. Intelligent boxing. There was also the time in the 6th round when Floyd leaned in, as if to bait a shot, and Cotto jumped in and hit him with a flush jab to the face. Floyd straightened and moved back as if suddenly confused as to how he got hit -- it looked like he was a bit embarrassed and didn't know what to do.

Cotto also landed some good body shots, and alternated between pressure fighting and boxing on the back foot to keep Floyd guessing. I've never thought much of him as a fighter, but after this fight I'm definitely more impressed than I used to be. He's a very good boxer-puncher. I don't count the loss to Marg, so in my mind he's only lost to the two best, ATG fighters of the era, Pac and Floyd.
