I dont normally post here, but here ya go. Sup brothers! :smoke

Just watched Floyds media day workout. He is looking BEAST on the mitts. I really believe he is training for the knockout. The intensity of his body punch combos and his snappy hard jab...hes lookin to do some serious damage in this fight. However Maidana is also looking quite vicious with his bodywork and chopping, awkward overhand rights.

Now i wanna talk about Alex Ariza. Maidana is having the camp of his life and looks to be doing everything Ariza says. Im not exactly sure what type of conditioning program Ariza has( believe it involves plyometrics?) Ive only seen guys like Ariza and Heredia do this type of training. But it seems to involve targeting certain muscles, twitch like functions to create a rapid, explosiveness all while maintaning speed and adding more power. Im not an expert but thats what it seems to me. Ive heard it takes a toll on your body and is extremely difficult to do. I used to see Pac give the same agonzing facial expressions as in the Maidana vid below, while Ariza stretched his arms and neck out in a way i dont normally see in other camps. Heres a clip

    http://youtu.be/JzPq0kUrep0

According to Ariza, Pacquiao was no longer following the s&c program Alex designed as the rift between Freddie and Ariza grew, Pac focused more on the boxing side of things . This must have played a major roll in Pacquiaos stamina and explosiveness. Pac states he let off the gas in the first Bradley fight. But we all saw the fatigue which was not apparent before. Maybe it was Bradleys movement and defense but Khan has also suffered in strength and punch resistance since losing Ariza.

Okay now to get to my point. Floyd is fully aware and even sounds somewhat concerned about Alex Ariza, pointing out the success he has had with Pac and Khan and now Maidanas win over Broner.. Heres the clip

    http://youtu.be/o5RdxWUwEFc

Even Leonard Ellerbe paid a surprise visit to the Maidana camp to get a first hand look at the amazing training camp Maidana is having thus far. Its also on record that Maidana only had 3 weeks of training with Ariza for the Broner fight. This has been a solid 8 weeks with him and with all of Garcias attention

    http://youtu.be/K60oedOZLOw

You have to admit Robert has done a phenomenal job with Marcos. Maidanas feint jab to the body, loop to a left hook up top was a thing of beauty vs Broner. Also Maidana has a way of throwing the most awkward chopping over hand right that i believe is effective vs the shoulder roll. The right hand body body shot as well, that put Broner down for the second time(yes it was the body shot, not the punch up top, that made Broners legs buckle and crumble to the canvas. Maidanas jab and defense has improved. Hes bending at the weight more, making himself small, no longer lunging in with the jab, thowing it diff ways etc and using more head movement.

The Garcia gym has made Maidana fall in love with boxing again. Marcos stated that he nearly retired prior to joining Roberts team. So a full camp with Robert and Ariza, 0 distractions. Theyre having fun 100% confident in their work, this is going to be a real fight. Floyd knows this. He knows he will have to knock Marcos out first. Sure you may see different looks but Floyd is coming to destroy and vice versa.

At first i thought, Floyds gonna kill this dude but with the camp Marcos is having with a world class team, and to be quite honest, they dont make fighters like Maidana anymore. He is ruthless and a killer. Robert cleaned up his rabbit punching but nonetheless, a destroyer. Also Floyd admits being hurt, elbow vs Canelo(which may be from Canelo beating the **** outta that elbow and also hurt his hand from Guerreros face running into it one too many times.

We already know what Floyd can do but keep in mind, Maidana aint slow on his feet like a Canelo or Guerrero. Hatton posed problems with his foot and hand speed which maidana will have. But Maidana isnt a mauler like Hatton, but an extremely heavy handed and id say clever fighter. Hes got shots that come outta nowhere at times. I dont believe backing up and moving away from a guy like Maidana is the key to victory. Khan tried that and nearly got his head taken off. Floyd will step in, crowd Maidanas work and now allow those wild overhands and around the guard type shots to land. When Floyds not landing that razor sharp jab or laser lead right, he will crush your body on the inside.

Maidana will negate the lead right and very possibly the jab as Floyd will have to be cautious at first. I see Maidana using some Chavez Sr. movesas far as the footwork, and punch combinations from awkward angles, but once Floyd slows him down with that bodywork on the inside, he will pick him apart with his bread and butter on the outside and rinse n repeat. However...like i said, Maidana has had the camp of his life. I see him holding up, giving a hell of a toll taking fight and making it the distance in a very competitive bout. Both fighters are in for the fight of their lives!

Maidana isn't slow on his feet? Have we watched the same guy? lol None of these extra things make a difference.. ariza this... maidana great camp... floyds too skilled for this guy and thats the simple fact. Floyd is right though,, guys when there with ariza seem to become very strong, great power and great chins. He leaves and they lose all these things. Maybe he's just a great S&C coach.. maybe theres something going on but heck theres testing so all should be fine.

    good post, good analysis

Ariza is a good s&c coach no doubt, and Floyd knows what hes about so you can be sure Maidana is gonna get tested a lot to avoid them suspicians. Plus fighters really will up ther trainin when fighting Floyd, so hes bound to look good.

Maidana is all action and has a good punch but i dont agree he is fast on his feet, he will be as flat footed as Canelo was. It will be a schooling, via potshots

    Floyd wont 'destroy' anyone

With Garcia and Ariza and a full 8 week non-stop training camp, this makes all the difference in the world. Maidana will have the speed, strength and explosiveness to find and hurt Mayweather and the stamina to go the distance vs the hardest working man in boxing. Robert Garcia understands and admits Floyd is the better fighter but he also understand that all you need is the right game-plan to win on any given night. This is boxing and this refined version of Maidana is the real deal. Somebodys in trouble!

Is anyone expecting to see the same Floyd as we saw in the Guerrero or Canelo fight? Like i mentioned i think Floyd is safest IN the pocket, avoiding Maidanas best punch looping overhands. I see a rough and tough action packed fight come May 3rd!

first maidana fight should have been pretty cut and dry for Floyd
this one should tell us if he's struggling with age (i'll be surprised), or if he does the clinic most expected the first time around

**** fight, there shouldn't even have been a first one to begin with, and now instead of facing some decent competition floyd have cherrypicked Madina again.

The guy that can't even punch straight.
And whose feet looks made of concrete.
Since madina is as unskilled as they get, and that he never changed and never will, this time maybe floyd will be able to deal with Alexander's and Khan's leftovers better than the last time.

I personally think Floyd could be overtraining at this age. Central Nervous System tells no lies. I think it's possible he leaves it all in the gym and looks flat again.

Crappy fight, crappy PPV. No interest in it whatsoever, most likely won't watch any of it - certainly not live.

There are a lot of boxers that would have been a better choice than madina. Starting with the two that have owned him the most, Devon Alexander and Amir Khan. Apart from those, the best oppoent would have undoubtedly been Timothy Bradley. A p4p lister, complete and skilled boxer. Better than almost anyone else.

It's not a case Floyd carefully avoids to even talk about him.
In spite of having even been called out by Bradley.
And in spite of Bradley stating Floyd is scared of Pac, and Bradley supposedly beating Pacman, according to floyd's opinion, at least.

What better move than beating Bradley? That would have showed the world the difference between Pac and Floyd, wouldn't it? That would have sent a message.

But, no, Bradley's too skilled, too fast, too smart, too mobile and dirty fighting. He would have beat floyd.

Other options, better or less worst than the plodding madina? Thurman, Porter, Brook.
    Lara, Trout.

Even Provodnikov, or even Algieri would be better opponents.

But no, better pick, again, an unskilled flat flooted slow, predictable and powerless slugger.
