nope, Kirkland was losing. in the 10th, Kirkland smelled the blood. Molina didnt have the energy to hold on for 2 more rounds
I think Molina would of finished on his feet... Only because he was holding so much and he nullified Kirklands strong points. I'll tell you one thing though, Kirkland would of went for it... He doesn't stop going for the KO, He has alot of will!
Slugger, what fight were you watching? I swear you have the worst take on fights i have ever seen. Did you see Molina stumbling around at the end of the round? That being said, I was impressed with Molina. Yes, he was blatantly bending the rules but you are not breaking the rules unless you get caught. he was very cagey. However, you could tell once Kirkland went primal on that ass it would be all over. Round ten was going to be the beginning of the end . . . Molina had no legs under him and his legs were ****ed. That Minute between rounds was only gonna delay the inevitable. However, the DQ sucked balls! the ref should be banned for not calling the excessive holding and that BS stoppage. A rematch should be called with a better ref!
I wasn't impressed with Molina.. He held too much for my taste. I guess he fought a "smart" fight for him because thats the only type of fight he could win. He had to make it a hold fest and he had to smother James and take away his power punching. For your information James was trying to go Primal on his ass for most of the fight.. He just couldn't get past Molinas tactics. I think the DQ sucked because I wanted to see the last 2 rounds, the fight was just getting good. I really don't wanna see a re-match though, i'd rather see Kirkland fight the winner of Canelo-Mosley or maybe Maravilla if he decides to come back down to 154.
You are wrong imo, Kirkland was not close to a ko victory. Molina wasnt all that hurt. Anyways, Molina did prove one thing, that kirkland is very one dimensional and would get beaten by almost any world class 154 and 160 pound fighter. The likes of Sergio, Alvarez, Cotto, Trout and Pirog would have an easy time with him.
Kirkland actually threw punches that round. Has me believing the rumors of injuries going into that fight were true. Kirkland's about to have shoulder surgery. Didn't use it as an excuse. Injuries are part of the game.
My thoughts? Even with a ref that would let him do anything in there, Molina still got worn down and was on his way to getting stopped by Kirkland.
Of course that was the only way he could win . . . and the ref let him do it all night (and it was the most blatant one sided hold feast ever). But keeping him on the back foot by walking him back and not letting Kirkland get into a rhythm was smart. This was a great learning experience for James and I think he would KO that ass quickly in a rematch. I agree Kirkland-Canelo/SMM/Serg would be nice but he should take care of business first. He was being outclassed but with a sharper ref he would end that **** quick. BTW there was no 2 more rounds Molina was done James ****ed him up when he caught him at the end of the round Another thing even though Molina was holding he was good at being aware of where the ref was to shield his actions but like a said a veteran ref would have caught on to his game quickly . . . slapped his arms away and allowed Kirkland to unleash. Some idiots on here try to claim that James is one dimensional, he was only in there with a cagey guy who was playing the spoiler role. James did not know how to handle this tricks but can easily work on them in the Gym. If they think James in One dimensional what the hell his Angulo?
