http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=472652&cat=boxer Im a bit dissapointed, I know Rendall got beat significantly in his last fight but it was against a top class world operator and he gave a good account for himself considering he only won 1-2 rounds If he's aiming for another crack at a world title in the next year or two Id rather have seen him move back to European level and fight a solid but beatable opponent. I dont fault a guy for taking a confidence boostewr after a tough loss but is he really going to learn much and improve anything by taking this fight. personally I think he'd have a good crack at Steve Molitor if they were to fight later this year, Molitor would be favorite but I think he'd have a good crack at him. What do you reckon:think
Just a confidence booster and one to get the rounds in for him to shake off the ring rust and then hopefully a big title fight Summer looking towards world level again later this year
This isnt a learning fight, just a confidence booster, he's ad quite along lay off since his loss, Also I think this fight is at quite short notice,
Fair enough if its short notice, just think he could do with at least 1-2 european level or above fights before he goes for a world title.
Theres a new rule that you cant challenge for the european belt directly after a loss at world title. This seems to be just a fight to get that rule out the way so he can challenge the winner or Martinez/Booth.
Jus there to get a win so he can fight for the euro title again. I like the idea of him vs booth with the winner getting another deserved world shot
I think its going to be hard for him to get another world title shot tbh and even harder for him to win a world title he can dominate at Euro but the gap between Euro and world, as demonstrated by casey rigondeaux, is vast and Rendall though probably above Euro level falls into that no mans land of not quite world material
He's significantly better than casey though and his height and strength at the weight make him a tough opponent. He put up a solid effort v nishioka but was just blown away by a brilliant performance. Him vs vasquez would be nice to see, though I think vasquez is good and would nick it. If Munroe had got molitor instead of nishioka, I reckon he would have won well
I agree he is much better than Casey and with the Molitor point but i think his time has passed i think if he had fought him instead of Booth he would have the title now because he would have worn down a sluggish looking Molitor with body shots and outworked him BUT the division is only getting harder and more competetive i think his time has passed and his attributes of bing big and strong will see him through to and beyond Euro level and possibly another shot but those attributes will only be enough to make him a solid opponent at world title level i fear. great example of a brit fighter who does things the hard way though and i would love him to win a world title just dont think its very likely at this juncture :good
If he was wanted an tuneup against an opponent of this calibre he should have done it much sooner really and be in line for a big fight now.
