Feet flat for me buddy. The power in the hook to the body comes from the hip for me thus lifting your heel takes away from the amount of force I can generate. Each to their own I suppose, have been shown the raised foot variety but don't like it. Your weight is on the front foot when you punch the body so if your foots raised your off balance- for me at least..:good
Funny you say that Brown Bomber, it seems that Frazier throws his left hook with feet flat also. Never tried it that way. I think he said something similar about balance.
If your knocking down guys with a body right hook somethings wrong, learn basics and stop arm punching
What? How did you reach that conclusion? I'm seriously baffled at how you can call a body shot knockdown an arm punch.. seriously. When people get hurt bad enough ie. winded or liver shot, sometimes they go down. It's a pretty major part of boxing.
Yeah I know what you're saying, and have caught myself flat footed many times before in that situation with no ill effects to speak of. I just feel like it helps me get a bit more hip movement, particularly on my left body shovel hook.
You need to let the bag swing and meet it with punches. Also, the only punch you're throwing with any meat on it is the left hook. Those jabs and straight rights at the beginning have literally nothing on them... Also, it will go away as you get more comfortable and natural, but you're really stiff. Loosen up and relax. Mechanically, the left hook looks okay.
Bring your head down more and your opposite hand up more when you throw your body shots. And by bring your head down, I mean bend your knees. Come down with your punches. And of course, use more of your core and legs when throwing them
Constructive... -- Stop "winding up" your shots. For all your "I am going to hit him hard..." the other guy will be either defending, GONE, or sparking you. -- ALWAYS precede your body shot with a shot from the other hand to mask the foot adjustment. Right to to the body? After a jab (foot shuffle). Left to the body? After a jab, straight (foot shuffle). You get in there with a baiting counter puncher? He is going to invite you into a canvas nap... or busted lips. -- You are pushing the bag. The reason you have to stabilize the bag is because you are pushing it. Shorten up and think about being compact and getting that hand back as fast as you put it out there. Get your work on!
I say goto boxing gym aswell, if you want a good body shot. You have a fairly stiff hit but your head is wide open, your stance is wrong, you are squared up on the bag.
Nail on the head hear, you could see the body shot coming from a mile away, you got speed but work on the positioning of your body when taking the shot.
