It is seldom that one sees such an unconvincing performance in such a dominating victory. Pascal has the tools and skill but is not using them properly. This fight was night and day when compared with Bute's last fight. A poorer than advertised opponent in Ikeke in a fight in which both fighters seemed afraid to get hit. Pascal seems to have some power but wasn't able to put it together in good combinations and wasn't willing to risk getting hit to really go on the offensive. This despite Ikeke not seeming to have much power. Compare this to Bute against Bika in which both fighters showed great skill while fighting aggressively without fear. At this point I think Bute would easily defeat Pascal and wouldn't be surprised if Bika would as well. Very disappointing and boring fight.
Pascal thinks he is RJJ or Hopkins, but he has about half the talent. Pascal has a **** defense, he doesnt have at all the reflexes like Hopkins/ Jones do at reacting to punches. Basically Pascal is an elusive, speed fighter, who is not that elusive.
I dont like Anthony Mundine, but he would outbox/ outspeed Pascal so badly, much less even Calzaghe or Kessler.
Like many others said. I liked what I seen out of Pascal against a taller decent fighter, nothing wrong with Ikeke at this point in Pascal's career. i think physically and technically with a little bit of work he has the tools to be a major force, The one problem I see with him is mentally. It seemed to me that he was so confident and thinks that he's so great that he got lazy multiple times and even got tagged a couple times. The only other thing I would tell him to work in his his punching technique, because with his speed and the pop he seems to have it seemed that alot of them weren't extremely effective. Anyways If he dont fix the mental problem he'll be the next Zab Judah. Also showing your opponent that you hurt your hand is a BIG no no
He's damn lucky that Ikeke isn't a puncher. Despite the crazy crowd and Teddy's rambling love affair with Pascal, he never really had Ikeke hurt, and Ikeke is a guy who's a highlight film KO waiting to happen for a puncher.. but Pascal has loud shots, not hard shots it seems. He also looked like he got buzzed a few times by Ikeke, who isn't a hard puncher. Not impressed by this prospect, and he's cocky, and when he fights a guy with a punch he's gonna be on ***** street by the 5th round.
pascal did well but who of the champs can he beat?? my prev posts are being echoed here... no defense.
I think Adonis Steveson looks more promsing. Solid contender, nothing more. I havent seen the fight but the fact he didnt stop Ikeke is a little worrying for his fans.
:good :good Ikeke actually did a little better than Atlas and Tessitore were giving him credit for. While they were rambling on and on like a broken record, Ikeke was outworking Pascal a bit in the early rounds. Pascal clearly won the fight (I scored it 8-4), but he takes too many breaks in rounds.
I felt he lacked speed. He didn't throw proper punches. His combinations were not tight. His defense is porous and he looked like a Roy Jones Wannabe.
Pascal has so many flaws in his game. He has no defense and he can't seem to finish his opponents. Every time he had Ikeke in trouble he would start throwing his ridiculously wide hooks hitting Ikeke's shoulders, arms and gloves. When he's looking for the KO, he gets so inaccurate and becomes wide open for counter punching. I've been paying attention to his career for a while now and I'm just waiting for a good counter puncher to put him down for the count. Imagine a prime James Toney, fighting at SMW, taking on Pascal :rofl
This guy has future champ written all over him. What's not to like?:-( Ikeke is no bum he'll give anyone a good fight at 168.
