Let me ask you something. Montreal seems to be a hot bed of young talent right now. Do you have anymore young prospects that I should look out for?
From Montreal we have: Ngoudjo(supposed to fight Malinaggi) Alcine(he is already champ) Diaconu(supposed to fight Dawson) Bute(supposed to fight Alejandro Berrio) Demers(lost against Abraham but will be back) Stevenson(hot prospect) And Jean Pascal of course
Pascal has the potential to be a top 168 guy, he also has the potential to end up as just a typical fringe contender type. Depends on if he fixes some of his holes. Defensive lapses, laziness at times, sloppy at times, and lack of true killer instinct. I thought he was better this time than he was the other two times I saw him. He seemed to sure up some of his technical problems including using his jab nicely at times. The speed, reflexes, and athleticism are already some of the best in the division. I think he ends up correcting some of his problems and being a top super middleweight in a couple years. The fight mentioned with Alan Green would be excellent and would make him a top 10 guy if he won.
Based solely on yesterday's performance and his record, I can't see Pascal being more than a gatekeeper. I'm much more excited about Bute and Frock in making noise at 168 in the future. I feel like guys like Berrio and even Veit would give Pascal a lot of trouble. Anyone with a good workrate or good technical skills should be able to beat him.
