I'd like to see Williams in with Kirkland, Canelo, Chavez, or Lara again. They al have a good chance of beating him and visa-versa.

    Hmmm

JCC Jr. would be a good one. Chavez Jr is IMO overrated, but Williams was laid slick out by Matinez... so they might let Paul have a few more fights, see how he does and if he looks beatable...take the fight.

Canelo. I think Canelo is going to have a harder time with Mosley than he's expecting and will be too cautious for a while afterward to take on someone like Williams. However, Paul has been KO'ed before and likes to mix it up inside...which would be friendly to Canelo. I think it depends on how the Mosley fight goes.

Kirkland will bring supreme conditioning and massive power. I don't see Paul taking that fight.

Martinez. I'm sure Paul wants to avenge this loss, but its a risky fight and I think he's probably building up to it.

Cotto. I'd like to see this fight. Would be a good fight for both guys.

Mayweather. While I think Mayweather is all wrong for Paul, I think Mayweather is running out of beatable name fighters to take on. I could see him taking the fight with Paul and I'm sure Paul would jump at the payday.

#1- Williams' Chin is shot and has been for some time. He has a Glass Jaw and anybody with pop and a good left can devastatingly KO him.

#2- His technical deficiencies are still glaring, the worst of which are that his footwork and balance are trash as he frequently crosses his feet up, and he lunges in with punches, particularly his right hook which is exactly why he gets cracked with counter left hooks and overhands.

#3- He is slurring and stumbling over his words pretty badly now and it would be best for his health if he would maybe get one or two more safe paydays and cash out ASAP. I am a fan of Williams because he comes to fight and is also from Augusta and I do not care to see a classy fighter out of my town turn into a complete veggie.

I think it was a perfect stepping stone fight/performance for paul, he came out with some intensity and rebuilt some of his confidence, though he really could have used a stoppage there. I think he needs one more fight with a slightly better but not to dangerous of an opponent before he goes on to challenge the big names and he might be able to make another serious run at it.

His defense is still terrible but at least he seems to be thinking about it a little bit. The fact that his chin has held twice now has to be helping him mentally. He tries so many unorthodox moves and gets away with most. If he could tighten up a few little things he could have a real chance but I just dont see that happening. When he fights an intelligent fighter who can exploit his weaknesses when he leaves himself open we'll know for sure.

Overall he looks like he's pretty focused and energized and even at times did look sharp, he's got me watching him out of the corner of my eye again.

Yes Williams actually is a bit past it and beating Ishida was a good and legit win but Kirkland wasn't exactly god's gift to boxing meaning beating Ishida doesn't vault you back into Kellerman's childlike stream of consciousness as THE MOST FEARED MAN IN BOXING... however, thing is, with Canelo and Chavez around, neither who is proven all that much, even a past it Williams can hope for the call up which he will NEVER get unless he shows signs of advanced CINTRONics as in "Help I've faded and I can't get up for a fight"

I'm actually a bit suprised Canelo is willing to face Mosley even now. I think, assuming there are no shenanigans, Mosley might knock Canelo OUT. Even now.

They had a nice run with Williams but I don't see him getting back to the top. I think it would have been interesting if they had just kept him down at 47 and just win fights. Never talk about going up to 54 or 60, and thus forced a Mayweather (well he wouldn't do it) or Pacquiao fight.

I thought Williams looked pretty good. He did a good job of keeping away from Ishida, and seemed to use his jab a lot more than normal.

Ishida is an orthodox boxer, and Williams has never really had any issues with them like he has with southpaws.

In the likely event that Lara beats Hearns. I think there should be a rematch between Williams and Lara. I supect that Lara would win.

Williams needs to add some more defense and more jabs to his game.
He will always be able to connect with his punches, but as long as he keeps being an inside fighter and not take advantage of his own body. He's going to get hit, which will always give his oppoents a chance to get a win.
Dose he have a glass jaw? Anytime you get drooped in the second round against a guy not known for his power like Martinez did there are questions. However Lara landed better shots for 12 rounds and Williams did not go down.

Other than Lara Williams may be the best current head to head at 154. For all his not taking advantage of his body. Williams is pretty good in the style he uses.
Who would I pick to beat Williams at 154? Lara, Mayweather, & Trout.

I feel he can be a major player at 154 again, aside from Lara, Austin Trout would whup him bad and I feel Kirkland and Canelo are pick'em fights vs Williams but he's easily up there

not sure what to make of it

I though Ishida was a fluke to begin with

Williams was a little more intelligent with his punches and i liked some of his work

but its hard to tell when you face a guy who is out gunned

Ishida brought nothing to the table, the blue print is out there on Williams and he didnt do what the previous guys have done and had success with

Williams can be dangerous at 154 but I think Lara and Molina beat him, Cotto is a toss up, Kirkland would be fun, Id love to see K9 get his big fight
