One thing we can garauntee,if Solis beats Vitali, he will meet him again ,and if he beats him, he will have to fight his brother before anyone else. That will locked into the K2 contract, which is one of the reasons several fighters do not want to fight either Klit.

There are no guarantees in boxing! Vitali has to want the fight, and so does Solis. Either could retire, un retire, or break contract and go to court. And then there is the various sanctioning organizations who could get in the way.

If boxers mostly enter the ring for the money, they should want to fight both Vitali and Wlad, since they offer the largest pay days.

Solis, Haye, and Valuev have decline matches with Vitali before. Solis declined when Vitali offered it to him in the past, then we were stuck with Sosnoski.

The WBO was considered a joke belt at this time, Hide was a Top 10 ranked HW, in fact Vitali would not step in with a Ring ranked Top 10 HW until he faced Lewis

@Mendoza: What % chance to you give to "Solis the Slob"?

I honestly only award him a 1% chance, in the event that VK gets a serious freak injury (as he did against Byrd, while dominating) & has to quit.

Check page 1 for my prediction.

I agree with this much. I don't know if he's going to fade or not, but I don't see how Solis's management can turn down this offer. It's a massive payday for a fight he might not get if he gets done in by someone less good in the meantime. So I agree with you about Solis striking now, he's no choice really, just as Chisora had no choice when Wlad tried to fight him.

But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about, firstly, the public and boxing. Both should be protected by opponents having to earn their title shots by beating other men who are in line for one. Solis has not done that.

That's a minor point. The major one is, what is Solis's standing as an opponent for a champion? Green and fat with fast hands is the answer. There are several better choices.

The fight is interesting, I will be watching - so I know he's better than Klitschko's last two. But at 17-0 with no (I think) ranked contenders amongst the beaten, he's a shameful opponent, really.

And littered with opponents who lose to opponents they would thrash when more experienced.

Vitali might ruin him in some way, and i've no idea what's going to happen with his conditioning, but he will learn such lessons against Vitali tonight that he will be a better fight in 12 hours than he is right now, in some aspects.

So what? What is the significance of the period of time? Do you think fighters obtain experience by being alive? It's the fights that make the fighter experienced.

No, it is not. It is the opponent that is important, not the bauble. You really can't see the difference between fighting Herbie Hide in fight #24 and Vitali Klitschko in fight 17? Your comparison would be kind of valid (minus seven fights, most of them at least at title level) if Klitschko had fought Lennox Lewis for his first world title, but he did not.

It's a question of levels, and entirely apparent.

    So what?

Against Herbie Hide. Not arguably the best HW in the world, arguably one of the 40 or 50 best ever to have fought at the weight.

No, he doesn't. Vitali has tonnes of experience.

Which is just a fancy way of saying he is out of shape.

As I said, that's arguable. He is in the years of his life that can be considered the best years of an athletes life if that is what you mean.

 yes, he was a given age. He also had lots more experience as a pro and had fought ranked contenders. These differences are more important than the fact that Solis is thirty and that's obvious.

 You are now comparing Solis to Muhammad Ali. Do you see the problem? We don't treat limited, fat contenders ranked #10 as being the equal in potential of Ali. We consider them unproven.

A question to some of you, I guess the people know who: do you think experience makes you better?

Depends on what kind of experience. If it's the experience of losing to a set-up opponent because you showed up a 300 lb slob then no. I think this is what was in the horizon for Solis had he continued on the road he had taken until now.

Yes but what kind of experience, Solis has mixed with world class David Haye included, he's had, he's experienced the best boxing teachers in Cuba

Training and learning how to box in gym's is the most important thing and will garner the most improvements, I'm not sure how good Solis is but he's better than Areola

Shite. When Robinson was asked about his most important learning experience in boxing he talked about the Zivic fight. Moore talked about the Burley fight. "He gave me a boxing education."

If "learning how to box in gym's" is the most important thing, as you claim, 0-0 fighters would be fighting and beating world champions after training and boxing as am's.

In every profession you get better by actually doing it. Not by practice but by doing the deed itself. What makes you think it´s different with boxing? Training is very important, obviously, but fighting is even more important.

Yep. Solis fought some top class guys. In the amateurs. It´s a different sport these days. Sorry, I don´t think high of am experience amongst the pros. Remember a certain Audley Harrison.

Like Ali whipping Johanasen? Plenty of amateurs beat up top pros up and down the country. I'm not saying experience in the trenches isn't important, it is, but learning how to box properly is first and foremost and plenty of top pros certainly haven't mastered their technique

Ever heard of something called sparring?

Amateur boxing has a different ruleset, different scoring procedures, but its basically the same sport. To hear some people talk you'd think he had a career in football and move over to boxing

Sparring is not fighting. There´s a big difference and you know that.

Nah, but it´s like the difference between kickboxing or Muay Thai and professional boxing these days.
