Sparring between top pros is probably the best learning experience you could have in training, yes, because it's the closest thing you can see to fighting. yeah, ok, but i'm not sure how relevant this is for the world heavyweight champion and his opponent.
It depends sometimes it can be a gym war, I'd rather have 10,000hours of lifetime sparring in top gyms with 17fights, than have sparred 1000hours and have 50fights
Did you know that fighters these days seem to be sparring far less often as well as fighting less often? :hey Based upon what you've said here, i'd guess you're the type of guy that picks forties champs over there noughties counterparts :yep
Some do, some don't, do you really think Mayweather/Toney/Tyson skimp on sparring? ANd anyone been in the boxing gym from the age of 7 to the age of 30, will have accumulate 10000s of hours of sparring and technique and learn day on day And I do pick some from the 40s over some from the 00s
Looking forward to this, glad Solis came in better shape than usual. I think he'll be a good test but I really can't see him winning.
Well thats not my point, my point is someone who starts boxing around the age of 19 and has 50bouts with little amateur experience will usually be far less skilled than someone who started boxing as a child, has 300 amateur fights and years of sparring Anyway not necessarily, Calzaghe barely ever sparred for example
What Solis would learn from a hard fight at this point is to keep himself in better shape than he is now. He was already exhausted from facing a Ray Austin which probably led him to take the Vitali fight more seriously and drop some of the extra poundage. Previously his camp had insisted on 260 pounds being a good weight for him.
I didn't say skimped. I said they spar less than their 40's counterparts. Evidence seems to be anecodotal and so of course that means you can deny it for your own rhetorical purposes (you will), but that seems to be the story. The main reason for this is that it's been found to be dangerous for the boxers involved.
Mayweather for example does 15min rounds revolving multiple sparring partners, Toney seems to spar whenever hes in the gym, its the only training he does
Right. But it seems to be the case that, as well as fighting more, fighters from the forties, fifties, etc., sparred more.
There's no one left to fight! lol [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TroTAs25RkU[/ame] www.youtube.com/eslubin
