Thoughts on Sonnen's win over Okami

He ran for House of Reps here in Oregon....and quit. He's a cocksucker with a 24-10 record who needs to shut his fat mouth.

 

It's looking much better...especially considering that Rogan said Okami learned his striking from his conqueror.

 

Sonnen is the best wrestler in MMA right now. He is peaking at the right time. His timing is impeccable. I just had to rewatch Sonnen/Okami last night because I was sure he was picking Okami up and slamming him down and we saw how tough Okami is to bring down.

Anyone that knows MMA knows wrestling is the best base to have and for anyone who thinks Silva is going to run over Sonnen obviously dont know this fact. As far as wrestling go, Sonnen is top of the food chain right now along with GSP.

 

I wouldn't say Sonnen is at the top of the food chain yet but I also think he will be a handfull for Anderson. I think his trash talk is hilarious and he really believes what he says. If he loses he better hope his mouth is big enough to fit his foot into it.

 

Whos a better pure wrestler than Sonnen right now in MMA? GSP maybe but not in positioning. This guy picked up Okami and threw him down.

He isn't **** to silva. He can't do what he did to Okami to Silva. No point arguing though we will see soon enough.

Lutter ****n took Silva down. Do you even know who Lutter is? Its guys like you who has Silvas balls in their mouths that turns him into some unbeatable fighter. A great wrestler all of a sudden has no chance? Then who the **** beats Silva? Oh right hes unbeatable.

 

Ive never thought much of Sonnen for his striking, jiujitsu skills, finishing ability etc but yeah you cant argue that he is arguably the best wrestler in MMA. As Chimba noted he has perfect timing. Silva isnt a great wrestler hes on his back in most of his fights TBH. Watching Sonnen throw around Okami and Marquardt 2 big, strong wrestlers like they where rag dolls was very impressive.

 

Oh no I'm not arguing he isn't a better wrestler than Silva. You are overestimating his abilities though don't you think? I honestly can't see Sonnen finishing Silva from the guard and I have feeling that's where its gonna stay most of the time Sonnen manages to take em down.

 

Ill agree its hard to see him finishing Anderson and its even hard to imagine him going 5 rounds and getting the takedown every time, avoding Anderson's strikes and doing enough to keep the fight on the ground (Anderson will stall his ass off if needed). So I have no doubts Chael will get his takedown or takedowns but I dont see a win here IMO theres way to much that needs to happen. Infact although im not that impressed with Silva's jiujitsu Chael has been submitted like 8 times it feels like by Horn, Maia, Filho, Forrest and others.

 

No Im not because its a huge plus to be a wrestler like Sonnen against a great striker because history proves that the Wrestler/grappler gets the takedown. Sure he may get caught but eliminating Silvas standup is frankly, more than half the battle. Its all about tactics and strategies and Chael has some immediate advantage with his takedown abilities.

 

But theres a factor here, Im not 100% but I bet theres a chance Silva gets tired because Sonnen sets a blazing pace and stays active for a good 10 minutes. Also, Ive never really seen Silvas cardio because he picks his spots wisely and paces himself. I saw Nate and Okami with their mouths open after 1 round. Another thing is Sonnen is so mobile on the guard that he can even take someones back, hes just a phenomenal grappler that way.

 

If Sonnen were to win, cardio would be my first guess. Silva's cardio isn't anything special since he doesn't take training too seriously. Sonnen on the other hand is training his ass off I bet.
