Why should Cotto, who has never ducked anyone, sign to

fight Canelo if he is not satisfied with the terms? You can blab

that Sergio Martinez was through, but it wasn't Alvarez stepping

up to take that challenge, or anyone else for that matter. Cotto

surely would get destroyed by GGG, but he has earned the right

at this point to do what is best for him. He is the middleweight

Champ and should take advantage of his position, since at best

he has two good paydays left. He was good for the sport ducked

no one and earned the right to play this to his benefit.

These new wave of fans are ridiculous...as if they would turn down a bigger pay day with the #1 fighter in the sport with a good chance to win over someone who does nothing for his career or resume...he fought everyone and is great for the sport

True dat. I'm not fan of Cotto but there's no denying he and Mosley are probably the only two people who can legitimately say they've fought the best in this era. I wouldn't be surprised if he fought GGG if HBO antes up the money.

    a side order in boxing....

    floyd > pac > cotto > canelo > klits > Froch > DSG = Maidana > Broner > JMM > Khan

this isn't a perfect list but it's something like this. Cotto can do whatever he wants. He's going to get his money with or without canelo and he's already a HOFer

He should fight canelo in a non title fight and bow out passing on the lineal to GGG, he has earned his right to make his money but he cant mess up the lineal like that

Stars that are too big for the sport, dictating their own rules, and fans of the stars slavishly defending every decision their heroes make are the reasons that this sport is shedding credibilty and mainstream appeal.

Yeah, yeah I know it's a business - but as fans of the sport we shouldn't give a toss about that, we should just wanna see valid and legitimate contests.

He seems a bit of a clown with them negotiation demands but he gets a hard time , should have gotten more credit for taking the Martinez figt and getting the win

Cotto is just letting Canelo know that he is the Big Mamou around here.

I'm no new wave fan and am an old school fight fan. The premisehere is that Canelo hasn't earned the right to dictate a damn thing.

It's a slap in the face to Boxing fans. The fans want May-Pac and Cotto-Canelo. Give the fans what we want.

It's still tainted. It was a catch weight, albeit 1 pound.

If he defends the middleweight title against non-middleweights below the middleweight limit, he will never receive full credit for his middleweight "accomplishments". Same for Pac's supposed title at 154.
