There is a huge amount of talk about Pacquiao vs Margarito as there very well should be. I was just wondering what people thought of the other fights on the card? Rios vs Lowther. Very nice fight, Lowther was a good little fighter. I presumed he'd be a stiff for Rios but its good to see there keeping the momentum going with good opposition. The difference was the power- Lowther didn't seem to sit down on his punches at all. I wasen't too impressed with Rios and I would fancy John Murray to take him if that happens but he's got a crowd pleasing style. Shame about his attitude. Rigondeux vs Corboda. Very negative performance from Rigo, fought just like amateur over a longer distance. To be honest he reminded me of a very negative Ivan Calderon- relies on movement, very slick and uses movement to control the fight. Dissapointing from Corboda really he should have cut of the ring. If Rigondeux was early mid twenties this would be a great win but in the context of him being 30 it isn't as impressive. He is not going to improve too much and would that be enough to beat the Montiel's and Donaire's? Professional boxing is about the hurt buisness and if he fights like that he'll probably only get to far. Still the movement was excellent, just boring at 4 in the morning I suppose. Jones vs Karras. Very good fight, most competitive on the card. Jones showed his class early on and let his stamina go. He just got excited and put too much into the second rounds. Very silly mistake and would have got punished at a higher level. Still of what I saw (I missed 2 or 3 rounds) Karras deserved the nod. Much more consistent but he's not the rising star I suppose. Fought like a poor mns Margarito, just like Rios really. Jones needs to straighten his punches when he's going for the finish. They were talking about him fighting Kell Brook. Thats a great fight. All in all I felt it was a good card. It was nice to see 3 fights outside of a main event. The stadium was packed and the atmosphere seemed great. These including the main event was worth money, would be nice to see the rest of the fights though. What did you guys think of the undercard?
