I just saw the movie Phantom Punch starring Ving Rhames as Sonny Liston. Not sure how accurate it is and would like input regarding that. I learned a surprising thing or two about Sonny and am happy they made a movie to tell the story of a man that essentially no one liked.....only those closest to him. At least Ali eventually became liked with time. Liston is alot like Jack Johnson in that with time he got much more appreciation over time. So what are anyone's thoughts on this movie that have seen it? If you don't want any spoilers then avoid this thread until you get to see it(if it's truly pretty accurate then there should not be much spoiling because it is based on a documentary on Liston's life and most of the events fit what I have read about him or seen in documentaries)
i thought it was pretty tame. they tried to put a heartwarming disney type angle to it when really it should have just been full of liston punching the **** out of people.
still downloading it as of the moment. will be watching it soon after.. how's the movie going for those who've seen it?
I haven't seen the film but I know a bit about Liston and I've looked at the list of cast of characters. Most of the other characters in the film are completely fictional. The whole film is probably total bull****. They can do that in movies and call it a "biopic".
What!?!? Where do I find this? I would love to see it. I will gladly give someone $100 of my vCash if they will tell me.:deal
I like it it really portrayed Liston as a victim instead of just an all around intimidating being. Movies like to add compassion to their beasts so the audience can relate more.
