Dont c him mentioned here often. I know he was the victim of alot of close calls he should've gotten. Any thoughts or opinions?
A fantastic little guy quick good jab. ATG fight with Canzoneri. Has a supposedly perfect amateur record; learned how to fight by watching film, making him the precursor to the modern youtube expert.
Maybe still the best Cuban professional boxer of all-time. His skills inspired a young Sugar Ray Robinson. And he looks great on film. The era he fought in was stacked full of great fighters, so I guess that might account for why he's rarely mentioned. Panama Al Brown is another of that era who I don't see mentioned on this forum as much as his record and reputation entitled him to.
