AS the title suggests what do you think about this lot? They seemed like the best bunch for a while to me. Alot more well rounded fighters than you typically see and the winners/semi finalists looked much higher standard than usual. Diego looked good on the ground aswell as having power but i reckon hes very beatable and wary of the druggers. Reckon Dillshaw will be the best of the lot. Some of the bantams were real flyweights so maybe could struggle to make an impact at the weight with their size disadvantages. Is there any thoughts towards the UFC opening up a flyweight division? Talk to me
1: They looked good. very high standard... for once. 2: Diego and Bermudez will do pretty well i think. Anyone that can punch will take Diego out though... 3: 2012 is the year of the Flyweights. He mentioned it a while back but i have no link sadly brah. Lynchburg
I suppose because the sport has come such a long way since the 1st season of TUF but with the lowest divisions being largely ignored. Also it seemed to me that due to the guys being smaller it was easier to be more active on the ground with transitions, sweeps etc. There were a lot fewer LnP fights if any (i cant remember one) Think Diego will become a gatekeeper type to be honest as he has flaws that are pretty blatent but become a big fan favourite along the way. Bermudez i didnt rate at all and thought he got an easier route to the final. Ahh quality this season has really got me into the lighter weights. I think the small guys like Dodson and maybe a few of the others from the season will do ok as lower level contenders at bantam then make a big move into Flyweight when its introduced.
Overall pretty good. Brandao was good fun to watch, but he'll get picked apart by a good striker. Dodson is just too small I think to make any sort of an impact, but he'll be a good asset to flyweight when it's brought in.
Alway difficult to Judge how well they will do until they are in with a few well know Journeymen, but to echo everyone else, theres definitely promise there
I agree i dont think he'll do particularly well but with his power and speed i think he can get a few decent scalps and enough of a fan base when flyweights brought in hell be one of the top dogs.
As someone already said some of the bantamweight dudes are really flyweights kinda like season 1 where Florian, Sanchez and Kos they fought at MW but then they moved down in weight
That happens every season though usually there are fights in the finale where the people who didnt make it to the final fight at their usualy weights
