:think i have no tapes on him but i have seen him in small bits of action like against benn and eubank...but that didnt show much. so i went on youtube and all i saw was a discouraged guy get humiliated by jones jr. but how many people have you seen launch a sizable offence against roy jones in his prime a solid resume. seemed to gone pro rather late...good defence and and also a floyd patterson lookalike
He was past it by the time of the Jones bout, though the terrible supermiddle division meant he was able to hang around for a while after it.Not that he could have bothered Jones even at his best. He was a technically sound fighter with no real notable abilities.Decent B level basically.
I'd go with that assessment. He was one of those fighters who slot into the bracket of being too good for local opposition, but not quite on the level of world class fighters. He was a cagey, crafty sort who could outfox you like he did to Benn, but he could never compete with a Roy Jones, although Malinga was starting to slide by that point anyway. He had enough cracks at the world title, but each time it slipped through his grasp. I'd like to add that he had a pretty good chin, but Jones was a bit of a phenom back then.
