This was related to the defensive abilities of Quintana. Punching and missing, and the fatigue it results in will lower activity level.

Yea his stamina waivered a little bit, but he kept it up by staying relaxed and sticking his game plan.

At the end of the day, fighting a 164lb fighter has a lot to do with it. How long is boxing going to let this happen?

Quintana fought great ...excellent defense ...the constant side to side movement had Williams flustered all night !

Guys remember Quintana has amazing stamina, He got tired with Williams because williams came in HEAVY and he is tall and lanky and a good majority of the fight they were pushing each other around and thats very taxing.

Don't you remember when he fought Joel Julio OUTSIDE! My friend was there and it was 110 degrees!!! Quintana went 12 rounds with Julio like NOTHING and under those conditions.

Q was dead with Cotto because of that tremendous body shot. Over all I think Q has great stamina.

    Thoughts??

5 to 1 odds and I bet the full 12 also at .83??:D

    I think I'm HAPPY:lol:

Seriously though? I did call this one from jump. i've been a fan of both men and this was the type of performance I expected when I picked CQ to beat Cotto.

I was very impressed by his ability to not let it slip away when it appeared he was tiring. He regrouped himself and found a second wind at the end.

The fact the he busted up a southpaw MW at WW? Isnt being fully appreciated by many, but thats ok, he's gonna bust up others as well.:good

Agreed! I remember that fight, it was in May of 06 I think, and the announcers were talking about the heat.

Quintana has exposed 3 fighters. He exposed Williams and Julio as not quite ready for prime time and he exposed Cotto as THE REAL DEAL.

Throw Berto at him, see what happens.

Ya'll thnk that Quintana beat Williams. Acutally Williams dumped this fight away imo. He was paid to lose and he did it. He did not fight like Punisher we know in previous 30 fights. It was diffirent style, and he aint even mad about losing, scoring or anything. Bull****, it was not clear fight and it seems to be very obvious.

Quintana is definitely a good fighter, but I really don't know if that was the true Williams we saw. I would definately say he is not as good as we thought he was, but was he really that bad? He was just ordinary last night. He is not an ordinary fighter. I really hope there was a rematch clause, because if there is, then we will know the answer of who Paul Williams really is.
