Bobby Chacon had plenty talent and fine boxing skills, all of which were very evident early in his career. But his lack of dedication to training and dieting probably was a major factor in him being stopped in the second round with his WBC world featherweight title at stake during his second bout with Ruben Olivares. That bout drew a capacity crowd of about 18,000 and a gate of over $400,000. with Bobby receiving a purse of about $160,000. After that bout, Chacon would break up with his manager-trainer, Joe Ponce, and went on to become more of a brawler.

His fights with Edwards and Limon IV were about as brutal as a fight can be. There's only so hard two human beings can fight, and in both cases, Bobby was right up against that limit.

Credit to him as well for bouncing back from two stoppage losses to Rueben Olivares to notch a win in the third fight (albeit a VERY diminished Olivares).

To me, Chacon's life is the most obvious pick for adaptation on film. A handsome street kid from LA fights his way to the title, has some struggles with discipline, loses his beautiful wife to suicide, then, as a single father, rallies to have an unbelievable career resurgence. And Bazooka Limon would be the perfect villain. Imagine the pop with the audience when Chacon floors him ten seconds left with the fight up for grabs! (chills)
