Just woke up a few hours ago (staying up to 6:30 am in the UK isn't ideal). I was curious as to what people thought on the four fights last night with Showtime. I enjoyed three of the four fights, with obviously the Austin Trout fight being the exception. The first few rounds of the Tarver fight where pretty boring until Tarver was convinced by his corner he wasen't winning rounds and started throwing back. He's past his best, his workrate and desire (judging by the shape he came in) isn't there any more and I wasen't too impressed by Kayode. Too emotional and threw too many wasted puncheds. The Bantamweight fight was good and Winky Wright is done.
Yep. It was one of those weird situations where he clearly wasen't doing enough to win rounds, yet he clearly genuinly thought he was. Fascinating to see a fighter misenterpret totally whats going on. I don't wanna see him do a Winky, Oscar, Mosley, Whitaker, Hearns, Jones, Toney, Duran, Leonard..... That list is way to long.
I was unimpressed with both Tarver and Kayode. Tarver came in, in soft shape and was lethargic for 90% of the fight. If Kayode was anything even remotely decent he would have walked through the version of Tarver we saw last night. Tarver is delusional if he thinks he can beat Huck and especially a Klitschko. Last night proved, at least to me, that Kayode is a limited fighter who's power is vastly overrated and who's record is inflated.
Didnt see any of them (having trouble subscribing to boxnation) but judging by what folks on here are saying it seems like a waste of time watching them online. think ill watch a few ike quartey fights instead
I am very interested to see what happens with Trout over the course of his next three fights. I'd like see him put in with Kirkland when he returns and then with Canelo.
although I thought Quillin showed the goods I was disapointed in the card. Santa Cruz had a good fight but other than that it was a pretty boring card and definitely a let down for a quadruple header. Bigtime fail by showtime imo relying on old guys to carry a card.
