He's got a new trainer, so well see how he develops defensively. He might be a little upright, but he moves extremely well, and when you've got a top chin, you can afford to get it and used it as an opportunity to fire back. Mansour is an excellent opponent for prospect 6th fights. Fans sometimes only see who a prospect is meeting and wonder why he's being moved at the speed he is. Hrgovic is showing it in the gym, and before that in the world series of boxing. That's why he's being moved quickly. I think he'd defeat Charr right now, and Wilder too!
I think he'd beat Charr too but that's not really a hard thing to do anyone in the top 10 could do it, I doubt Charr is even top 20. Wilder though is another matter. I could see Wilder finding his chin at some point with his lack of head movement.
Hes a blue print of Vitali Klitchko without the heavy hands. Hes a good addition to the HW's and is a legit threat. I think pressure power punchers who can stay with him will cause him some problems like a Joyce ( has a win in the ams over him) . He will pose difficulties for those who he has significant reach on who cannot counter him. I have him somewhere between Dubois and Gorman.
Joyce beat him in the AM's when he was a fully grown man, and Hrgovic was just 20 years old in a distance fight. It means nothing now. Asking a 20 year old to hold his own in the super heavyweight amateur division full of men ranging between 6'4-6'9" tall is a tough task. You just can't be 20 these days at do well at super heavyweight. A person has to grow into his body. Neither Dubis or Gorman are of the same class.
Yesterday Serge says And today Hrgovic weighs in at 105.7kg which Google informs me translates to 233lbs. That's his career highest weight by almost 5lbs and 9lbs more than he weighed last time out. Filip Hrgović and Amir Mansour made weighing before their tomorrow's match at the Zagreb Arena, and the Croatian boxer was three and a half pounds harder than his 20-year-old opponent. Still, he discovered that it was all purpose. The Croatian boxer was 105.7kg, while the American scales showed 102.2, so they are both on a rough basis, although Hrgović is a bit harder and it could be seen in the match. Filip discovered how he felt. "Everything went well. As two professionals how and should be. We respect each other. It is certain that a tough fight is waiting for me, it is seen in the eyes that the adversary is brave and that he will do his best. But I will do my best. I think it will be a good fight, " said the best Croatian heavyweight who will try to win the WBC International title tomorrow, and then he continued with something he felt from the inside: " Maybe I look calm, but worse in me. I can not wait to go because I feel the best in the ring. Enjoy in the match I will not, but well ... " Philip used to be an easier and faster opponent, but this time he is harder, but he does not believe he will lose on speed. Still, he is 20 years younger than his opponent, and he thinks it will make up for it. "That was planing. Otherwise, I would go to the diet for a week or two before the game, but now I've let go. I trained hard, eaten everything properly and did not control the pie. Now I have the chassis I need to have and feel the best I could. "" I had a few pounds ago, but I lowered the pot at the end of the camp. Now I let my body just dictate the purse. I did not drop anything. It's that pile that needs to be. "" The tactic is to keep it at a distance, not to give it a chance. The boy is a kicker, he must have come to win. He needs to get caught up and wait for his chance. He came here and went all or nothing. "
Age is irrelevant when experience comes in.... The actual make up of his weight may make Hrgovic a better effective fighter now , however the fact is Hrgovic was more experienced then a very green Joyce when he lost and it was the actual pressure of Joyce which enabled him to defeat the more polished fighter nothing more. Gorman/Dubois and Hrtgovic are in the same class theres literally nothing to suggest any are overwhelming favorites against each other.
He's ready for anyone outside the top 5 right now!. And in 1 year he'll be ready to give Joshua and Wilder beatings! All them WSB fights have made him the perfect candidate to be fast tracked
In two years it will be Hrgovic, Usyk and Teslenko as the top guys at HW. Watch. All three of them will make most of these ‘NaySayer’ idiots **** off and find another sport to watch
watching Hrgovic gives me a strange desire to either buy pet food, or attempt to move the St Louis Blues to Saskatoon.
Agree with you totally with the caveat that it appears to be just plain laziness and inattention. Maybe when he gets a good opponent we will see him really "on."
He's a "might be" in my book. After all, he did pummel a 46 year old opponent but he still shows great potential. For somebody who only has five professional contests under his belt, excluding WSB, he looks fairly polished. Plus, he's young. When Joshua is past his prime the Croatian should be entering his.
I was wrong. He wasn't exposed but not impressed with him, he beat faded fighter who lost all his skills in jail. Hrgovic is difficult to watch because he pushes his punches and looks slow when is tired. He will never become PPV star and he will sell tickets only in Germany and Croatia. His look don't do him good as well, he looks like a maniac.
