1.Manny Pacquiao v Juan Manuel Marquez III Obviously, I think the world needs to know who the true p4p#1 is. 2.Kelly Pavlik v Joe Calzaghe Calzaghe surely cannot bow out by beating a shot fighter, and having never faced a single top 10 pound-for-pound guy who is under 40. 3.Antonio Margarito v Paul Williams II What a fight! Who is the king of 147?
Agree 100% but you need Mijares V Montiel. Hopefully Marquez is still solid by next year I dont think he can go for much longer but well see.
Juan Diaz Vs. Nate Campbell II Antonio Margarito Vs. Joshua Clottey/Paul Williams II Kelly Pavlik Vs. Arthur Abraham
Agreed, especially on fight 2. Even the haters would have to hold their hands up if Joe bowed out on a great career by beating Pavlik.
If Joe bowed out by beating Pavlik, I would give him immense credit for a great win, and give him credit for a merely decent career punctuated by an excellent last couple of years.
If that happens, Calzaghe must fight the winner of Dawson-Tarver for his final fight. He simply CANNOT bow out by beating a man he himself described as being 'shot' in 2004!
No. It will only happen if both Joe and Uncle Fester win. Then I believe the demand for it and the potential money it could generate would maybe prove too much for Calzaghe to turn down.
Dawson means absolutely nothing to the general public so that's a non-starter. I can't see Tarver generating enough interest either. Calzaghe is only after fights which will guarantee mega pay days now and the only one out there that will do that after Jones is Pavlik.
Then that's a mistake. Joe wasn't impressive v Hopkins, I think even he, Enzo and his most ardent fans would admit that. If Joe really wants to be remembered as a great, he simply must win one more big fight against a tough opponent IMO. If Jeff Lacy (who won't) or Mikkel Kessler (who very well may not considering his post-Calzaghe career) don't achieve anything special before they retire, history will not remember Calzaghe kindly. His resume is nowhere near good enough that he can afford to ignore a Pavlik or a Tarver - if they win their fights. That's if he cares about greatness and not just money, I mean.
