To be honest, I would not have that much against Haye were it not for the discrepancy between what he promised and what he ended up delivering. Yes, he needs to sell fights and some trash talk can help, but when you promise multiple orgasms and then fail to get an erection you end up looking like a... flaccid *****, I guess.

You mention the excitement he generates, but - sadly - most of it (we can argue about that) is due to stuff done outside of the ring, not inside of it. When he lambastes the current crop of heavy weights for generating snooze-fests and then plays a main part in one, then that again makes him look like a tit...

You ask what he could have done differently against Valuev. I'll tell you what:

1) He could have pressed the action, rather than look ****-scared and hop in and out twice every round... Yep, I've heard it's brilliant strategy (and oddly it does win you a title), but exciting it is NOT.

2) Instead of starting the whole bull-**** injury argument he could have knocked out Valuev in the first round, when his hand was allegedly still ok, rather than wait until the twelfth to rock him. Yep it's not easy - Valuev is big and has a hard skull - but that's precisely what I'd expect the best heavy weight in the world to do (or at least try to), particularly after all the bragging he'd done in the last couple of months.

Terrible opening post by the hater, but Haye didnt do as good as he could of, but then this is a results business and he got the result. He'll have to do more in his next fight, but i think he will.

He could have dealt with Valuev a lot sooner IMO, but he needs to have a few more fights if he wants to fight the brothers, they wont be no walk in the park and he could get a lesson taught to him.

1) We all know the boy has very fragile health... Anytime he doesn't perform it's either because he hurt his back, injured his finger or had a period. In a way it's quite surprising his jaw still holds up, given all the strain he puts on it with the incessant ****-talking...

2) In light of his spectacular back-pedaling and joint-stinking skills, not to mention his epic sense of humour ('I am the best heavy-weight boxer in the world' in his post fight interview) - Haye clearly has a bright future in the circus (the 'back-pedaling, ****-talking, joke-cracking, stink wonder' anyone?).

What makes that option more appealing is that the risk of injury is far smaller, and the number of things you can blame once things don't go your way is much longer as well... (slippery asphalt, bike too heavy, temperature too high, saddle uncomfortable - you get the picture). Given that he fights once every two years the money might well be comparable also (and he won't have to abstain from sex, pre-fights so his wife would probably second that as well...).

3) Finally, retiring now is the only way he'll retain his 'title' for long. Put him in with either Klit (or even a Chambers, Solis or Gomez) and he leaves on a stretcher - which even blind judges might find difficult to rig.

Instead, if he retires now the legions of die-hard Haye sack-suckers will be able to go on for years about how he was the best thing in boxing (ever) and how he could have taken Ali, Marciano and both Klits out in one night... (which, accidentally, might even be true - but only if we organised a back-pedaling contest). So he becomes a living legend - surely not a bad thing (with a lot of marketing potential)!

So, if you seriously consider 1), 2) and 3) retirement from professional boxing is really the only logical option for David right now. Given yesterday's 'performance' dead), I say: Just do it!

All Valuev had to do was add a jab every 10 seconds to earn the UD, he couldn't even remember to do that. Haye couldn't even earn a credible victory against such a pondering heap. Even with Boxing at it's lowest ebb since the WW2, Haye would be KO'ed by half the top 10 if he dared venture across the pond.

The kid is a disgrace to british Boxing.

I'm sure it does. That punch was meant to crush granite and all it managed to achieve is wobble a circus-freak (to use Haye's own description) once in thirty six minutes.
