Ward is a cheat, he's just been aloud to get away with it. He's cleaned up his act of late but, he'll revert back to type as soon as Kovalev gets any headway....

Just visited this thread just now. I love the dirty element to his game. This is the pro's not the amateurs. It's about doing what you can get away with. The only abhorrent thing to me would be fixing fights and roiding to the gills.

The dirty element should not be underrated. Orlando Salido beat an unprepared Lomachenko on the basis of the dirty element.

Ward can be a dirty fighter indeed, however I blame the refs rather than the fighter. The ref has to set the bounds and enforce them fairly. Ward is a master at getting away with sneaky tricks, and this is the one aspect that Ward far exceeds Kovalev at.

While I'm not gonna make a case that Ward is a clean fighter as his record suggests otherwise but, having watched this video, many of the examples of Ward supposedly using his elbow as a weapon are, in fact, him using his arm to maneuver opponents to where he wants them to be and setting up angles for the next attack, to nullify his opponent's next move or merely keep them off balance. Dark arts of boxing? Of course. But like I pointed out earlier, I thought Krusher wanted a 'street fight'? Can't have it both ways. Call for a street fight and you are tacitly saying elbows and headbutts are fair game.

Miranda opened up a cut on Wards head with a head butt and the ref did nothing about it.

Everybody should be having a pillow fight they the way all you people sound :drooling::sleeping:

Lewis used his elbow to lift up a guys chin to uppercut him out for the 10 count.

    Golota bit into guys necks.

Lewis used to hold the head of a hurt fighter with one glove and uppercut with the free hand. Brutal, but still considered an ATG.

Yeah fair point until I read this I was gonna say the same, whilst I don't like Wards head butts ect I actually detest the refs more than Ward as at the end of the day he's in a fight whereas the refs are there to ensure the rules are adhered to,what's the point in the ref going through the rules in their changing rooms if he's not gonna act if those rules are broken.
In any case I'm not worried for Kovalev he's a big boy and can look after himself,I'd hate to see Kovalev respond in kind though and risk losing points after all if Ward lunges in with the head I see Kovalev doing what he did to Hopkins in round one after he rushed in.
I'm well n truly pumped for this fight esp as its free in the UK,if it's anywhere near as good as the two other 50/50 fights this year in Porter v Thurman and Frampton v Cruz then it should be awesome.

Ward's Str8 left will be the punch that Kovalev ain't ready for... It will be called a "Hook" by HBO, but SOG is a lefty by nature so this punch will be a "Str8 left". Watch the Dawson fight where SOG was on killa mode.

Kovalev is very aggressive in style so I feel pretty confident it's not going to be a borefest.

That being said, Pacquaio was supposed to be aggressive against Mayweather ...

What a killer, he had a drained walking corpse who'd been beaten up by Kovalev victim Lionel Thompson and TKO'd in sparring by Edison Miranda in front of him. And you do realize Dawson is a southpaw too right?
