I have only been trained to throw straight right hands. I am trying to find a way to deliver more power with my right hand.
I have very little training with an actual over hand right. I am not sure of the proper way to throw that either.
So, if some-one could break down the technique on looping and over hand rights I would appreciate it.
For example, on a looping right do I pivot my right foot?

It's better to be face-to-face for technique but, yes you do pivot just like a straight right. For power, I would throw the right down middle, because that's where the power comes from. Overhand or 3 quarters punch was more of a change of pace for me, off a double or triple-jab so they don't see it coming.

I always felt that looping a right hand really took away from the power, not saying the punch is worthless, but IMO what generates a KO from a looping right is where it lands, temple or around the ear. Remember, you aren't looping it just to be looping it, you loop it to go over one of his punches or around his guard. When you go over a punch with a loop is probably the only time you can get away with "stepping into a punch" for power,.

The arm muscles are tiny compared to the leg muscles which generate most of the punching power.

Trying to add more arm in the punch will not add more power to it. In fact, it'll make the pinch wider, slower, more-telegraphed, and generally easier to slip.

It can work against guys that have no head movement, or who lean back. but against skilled fighters who can slip punches, it's mostly useless.
