    Hey all,

I have a sprained right thumb, kind of hurts especially if gets caught wrong or blocked. Anyway normally Id just rest it up, not spar for a couple of weeks, however I have my first fight in 2 weeks.

Feeling really good (apart from the thumb) and am training hard, but working around the right hand as best I can i.e. not putting power in and throwing it in sparring when I know I can hit clean.

Was wondering if anyone had advice on this? I am taping it with sports tape for support, using 16oz gloves, icing it afterwards.

No way I am pulling out of my first competition!

    Thanks guys.

You could injure it more if you don't rest it. Anyway you can not spar or hit the gym for like 2 days, maybe over the weekend just rest, run, and shadow box?

i feel as though u can fight through the thumb injury though. I think a wrist injury would be far worse.

    Thanks.

Yeah its just a sprained thumb, nothing life threatening. I was just wondering if anyone has had similar issues and some feedback?

dont use your right hand and work on perfecting your jab.
