Thurman as a boxer is very underrated

His KO rate is 80%. For comparison, that puts him within 4-5% of the likes of Sergey Kovalev & Nicholas Walters.

Dating back to Quintana, six of his last seven opponents - all but JSK - have at on point or another been world titlists. He dropped all but Zaveck (never down, might be undroppable)

Dating back to Zaveck, six in a row have been world class operators when he fought them. Thurman has barely lost a single round in that span, getting every single opponent's respect with his power.

It's easy to say his punching power is overrated when he stops knocking people out.


He's moved up in competition and is still hurting fighters and knocking them down. He's knocking very durable guys down, too.



It's just so very easy to say someone's power isn't all that when the knockouts have dried up.

 

Im concerned not about his power but his killer instinct - it's what is setting him apart from Trinidad in the WW division.

Really concerned about that Bundu fight. Guy had no power, was quite small, and euro level…..yet Thurman is going in reverse?

 

The reality is that at world level guys are hard to knockout. Name me another 4 time world champ that doesn`t have a solid ass chin???

 

The replay I saw, didn't show his ankle period, it did show him stumble.

 

Bundu was short, but powerfully built. His defensive style is herky jerky, with a high guard. Thurman wasn't landing much clean, and Bundu was coming in with his head, I don't think on purpose, but because of how short he was. Bundu also has short arms, his only chance was to get in close. Thurman was wise to get on his toes and box, after the first couple times Bundu's head came in there. Why get butted, and stay in Bundu's range. Bundu was a non factor when Thurman stayed on his toes. Bundu did land a few shots, when he got close enough. As far as Bundu being Euro level. He was undefeated, and if you look at his resume, it was better than a guy like say Chaves.

I don't think he's on the level pound for pound with Kovalev and Golovkin.

Looking at the top 10 or so Welterweight I wouldn't really favor Thurman to stop many of them, whereas Kovalev and Golovkin, nearly all of them.

Although 147 is a much deeper division.

If somebody compared Thurmans power with GGG's, yes, that person is overating Thurman

GGG can stop anyone in his division, specially a no defense having stiff like Guerrero, which Thurman failed to do

someone with utterly destructive power should be able to stop a slow, walking punching bag , great chin or not
