source ***********ne Last month, WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith 'One Time' Thurman (25-0, 21KOs) headlined the debut edition of "Premier Boxing Champions" at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He faced former multi-division champion Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero and put in a dominating performance over twelve rounds to win a lopsided decision. Right now Thurman is looking to return on a televised date in June or July. He is willing to wait around longer - if the right opponent comes along. Thurman says the biggest challenge for him, as usual, is getting a live opponent in the ring. "Well first off, I want whoever wants to fight around the same time I want to fight. I think thats going to be my biggest challenge, getting somebody to fight me on my date or the date that I think would be the best to step back in the ring. If the fight is worth it, Ill wait a little longer to step back into the ring. If its worth the opponent, like a Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan or something of that nature, but I would like to fight anybody," Thurman told On The Ropes Boxing Radio . And who can he face? Thurman is not exactly turning anyone away. He's willing to face Timothy Bradley, Amir Khan, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, Shawn Porter or even Andre Berto. "Manny is fighting Floyd but Id fight Timothy Bradley, Id fight Amir Khan, and Id fight Kell Brook next. I know there are fans that probably still wouldnt mind seeing me fight Shawn Porter. Berto just fought and won," Thurman said. "There are a lot of fights for me as a welterweight champ right now. I dont know which one is going to come next. Im probably going to make the phone call to Al Haymon this week. Ive yet to talk about whats next, so thats why I really dont have any answers for you guys. But we will see, hopefully something good." Who should he fight next?
From a fans point of view I'd best like these opponent against him: 1- Kell Brook 2- Brandon Rios 3- Juan Manuel Marquez 4- Shawn Porter 5- Marcos Maidana 6- Timothy Bradley 7- Sadam Ali 8- Amir Khan 9- Adrian Broner 10- Chris Algieri If he wants easy wins, he can reverse the list.
Brooks too busy looking at bums like Frankie Gavin in May then Bum Bum Rios in August. He'd never risk a fight with Thurman because he knows he will get decapitated, he wants to get that retirement financial security with khan before he fights any1 that has a pulse.
all great options for thurman, respect if he takes on any of those. personally id like to see him take on brook or khan
Well its nice to read somebody saying they will fight anybody decent and id happily watch him face any of the names mentioned.
Khan beat Alexander, who Porter already beat. And Porter is better than old, recovering alcoholic Collazo.
Porter is not a better fighter than Alexander. Alexander has achieved more and is technically superior in every way. He just had an off night and got mauled by the bigger stronger Porter.
I doubt Lucas will move up and right away fight Thurman, not this year for sure anyway. I'd say Garcia as well but that ain't happening either.
Lucas will move up in 2016 and is prob the only guy with ***** enough to face thurman honestly Garcia on the other hand wants easy money
Porter got a gift vs Julio Diaz and looked terrible vs Bone in his last fight a career lightweight, if he didn't injure his ankle it could have been a tricky long night for the midget.
In 34 fights, Brook has 1 credible win at the world level. So I doubt he will fight Thurman, Maidana, Bradley or anyone else, instead he will fight a far inferior fighter in Gavin Rees and that too as yet another world title defense.
