Just finished watching it and can't believe how over the top the commentators are going on about it being a classic. Guerrero didnt do anything to really trouble Thurman for most the fight. He only started pushing it after the KO and Thurman was still coming off better on the ropes as Guerrero leaned on him. He didn't really connect with anything to trouble Thurman. How can it be a fight of the year when the cards were so one sided. Both tough guys, but Thurman is a different class. And another thing! The ring entrances for both fights were ****. Zero atmosphere and terrible background music. Let them walk in with their team and own music. Still, good to have boxing back on free tv. Should get better as they do more shows. I'd give them a C+ for their first show.
It wasn't an all time classic fight, but it wasn't a sleeper either. I mean you could just sit home and hold your **** instead of watching if you want.
Guerrero showed a lot, but he won 2 rounds max. Hyperbole is something people are prone to. I remember SHO talking about how Broner/Taylor was this FOY, when it was just a solid contest.
It wasn't a great fight, but it was decent despite being mostly one-sided and after the stinker of an opener it looked like a FotY by comparison.
The card and particularly this fight was better than expected, I enjoyed it and will watch the next one
Broner vs Molina was a little bit dissapointing, but that was because of Molina was off his game and it was too one-sided. Thurman vs Guerrero was a good fight, not great, but it was action packed and full of drama.
I don't know about that...he's a solid top 10 welter. He's around the level of Chaves, Alexander, Khan, and Maidana imo. Never gonna win the championship but good enough to hang around the rankings and win a fight here and there, maybe even a belt if they play their cards right. Manny, Floyd, Bradley, Brook, Porter, and Thurman make up the next level. JMM is kind of retired and only good at beating Manny. Next level down you got Lopez, Soto-Karass, Ortiz, Berto, Collazo. Then below that you got your Aydin, Zaveck, Malignaggi, Bundu, Euro/British champs, and guys like that. Then you have your journeymen.
It didnt have the feel of a massive nights boxing, it didnt have the look either, i wasnt keen on the ring walks and some of the other little changes. But i dont mind the black ropes. And i did enjoy the main event. The Broner fight was awful.
Base on win over Kamegai and Aydin? Kamegai run away from Japan because he not want to fight Japanese one time Keita Obara. Aydin for stopped by none puncher Postol and got robbery over Jo Jo Dan.
