I've not seen the fight yet, it was on too late for me to stay up. Quite a lot of people scored for Thurman though so I don't see how it can be a gift.
The good scorers who weren't biased as hell had it for Porter or a draw. Including two guys who'd picked Thurman to win.
If not then why proceed with the convo? Just seems a typical over emotional reaction from you. When you get some sleep you'll change your mind. :good
Nope I was wide awake while scoring, I was completely fair, try actually watching it before criticizing my ****ing scorecard.:good
Dude, Porter was sloppy as always. It was close but the judges got it right. Thurman was rusty but he knew how to make it look good to the right people.
I have to rescore it, I was kinda pulling for Thuman (which may have influenced me) but I felt Porter edged it in the end. I can't say definitively though without having an actual scorecard. I just thought Thurman's few big punches didn't always outweigh Porter's work. He was more accurate than usual. Thurman seemed to look for that one big shot all the time. Also sorry that my damn video is blocked. I'm disputing the copyright claim since this should plainly fall under Fair Use.
That's the way I saw it as well, Porter edged many close rounds because as good as Thurman's single usually accurate shots were, there wasn't enough of them to outweigh the mauling and activity or Porter in most of the close rounds.
I thought Porter edged it. He was better on the inside than Thurman was giving him credit for pre-fight. Happy for Thurman but I like Porter, so feel sorry for the guy. Yesterday night was an example of why I'm not a big fan of putting so much trust to high guard defence. It just made Thurman much more rigid than he needed to be, whilst Porter was busy sometimes successfully finding angles. Porter's inside game is not exactly anywhere near special. We didn't see him changing the tempo enough on the inside, too clean in-fighting from Porter, nor did he make use of angles in the way an elite in-fighter would (but was still having success there), but did enough to outhustle Thurman on the inside. ...that's one of my biggest problems with American fighters. Thurman was making better use of the ring than I've seen him, landed some good scoring power punches but landing one or two doesn't completely discount all of Porter's work in those rounds - I think that's the difference between myself scoring for Porter, and others scoring for Thurman. It doesn't help that I was so tired and the quality wasn't great.
