Thompson is pretty good, I wouldn't favor him to beat Klitschko, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

Why are people so desperate for an American hope?

I never thought I'd see the day where boxing would need a " Great Black Hope ".

Thompson has just as much of a chance of beating Klit than any of the title holders out there now. I do believe he would need to fight a near perfect fight, but for heavyweights he has a good skill set, is just as big as Klit, and is a southpaw.

Exactly. Thompson's another Ray Austin - limited and old. IF he fights ANY of the titleholders, let alone Wlad, he'll be beaten. Wlad would annihilate him, early.:yep

I don't think he'd beat any of the top tier heavies. He's a Friday Night Fights level fighter, who somehow snuck into the top 15, where he don't belong.

But for what he is, Thompson is a good fighter and is entertaining to watch. But he's not one of the better heavies. Not even close.

I think Thompson is quite a bit better than ray the rainman. he has the skillset but he has very limited knockout power dont be fooled by the whipiing he put on Luan Crapniqi. which ever you want to call him. thompson would have to fight the perfect fight but it would definately go to a decision if he did and would probably get screwed because he is less marketable than wlad the impaler

I'd take Thompson over Maskaev and Peter. I think Klit will beat him (and I bet that is the next fight since Thompson is Wladdy's mandatory), and I think Ruslan would beat Thompson as well. He is better than people give him credit for, although some of his fights have been total stinkers.

Take it to the next level? He'll be 37 by the time he fights next! He needs to concentrate on getting his one shot and making the best he can of it, because one shot is all he'll get!
