Remember these two fights? I think the first fight was in late '66 and the rematch was in '67. I saw both fights on tv, and I was impressed at how ineffective most of Torres' wide, sweeping punches were, and how relentless, measured and methodical Tiger was with his. His punches were short and economical, and he twice took the measure of Torres in a strategic sort of bout. I don't think Tiger ever seriously tried to go for a ko, but instead stayed true to his game plan and racked up the points to win the title, and IMO, the rematch was more of the same, but the fight was a bit closer, as when the decision was announced, Torres swung at the air in frustration at losing. I think Tiger clearly won those two bouts, and against a bigger man like Torres, it was all the more impressive, if not spectacular.
