The much maligned Antonio Margarito makes his comeback after over a year out the ring.

Now the dust has settled, how do the British Forum feel about his return?

Was the ban and the absolute beat down handed to him by Shane Mosley enough punishment?

    Nope

As Cotto says you know what someones putting on your hands. A hard block...put on your hands...you know that's not right. He can play dumb all he likes he knows he was going out with bad intentions.

He put at risk not only a man's life but a sport. He could of killed someone and i think the bans are not good enough.

Innocent Until Proven Guilty...but i can't for one minute buy he didn't know his wraps were illegal and that it was first time...it his hands were wrapped like that.

Innocent until proven guilty. Which he wasn't in my book (proven guilty that is), simple as that.

My own personal view is that any boxer caught with loaded gloves or testing positive for steroids should be banned for life.

However, given the sport's general reluctance to properly punish drug cheats such as Vargas, Toney et al, Margarito has served his ban and has every right to earn a living fighting.

Plus, there is no proof that Margarito ever entered any other fight with illegal wraps - after all they are inspected by the commission and signed off.

I cant forgive him due to how badly Cotto got beaten. Was horrible to watch.

IMO Cotto was the man that potentially could test Mayweather to his limits, kinda feel that fight took so much away from Miguel.

It wasn't horrible to watch,it was a great fight but looking back and knowing what was probably happening, makes it horrible.

Yep it did mate. He never been same....and sadly never will be.
That night he boxed like he never boxed before it was a beautiful display and people forget that. He maybe should of held and took tempo out of the attacks of Margo. I one of my saddest nights as a fan looking back. I think there was a injustice but if so..Cotto's people were to blame as well as the commissions.

I take a different view on Cotto. The guys a good but not great fighter and I think we've seen what we we're going to see out of him.

Margo beat Cotto because of his ability to take punches and maintain pressure, something Cotto has struggled with throughout his career.

No one can say for definate what part the handwraps did or didn't play in the fight but in my opinion it didn't change the result or Cottos subsequent career.

    Proper throw-back fighter as well.
His attitude was first class, all business....not Mayweather type business, just loved to fight.

I think Cotto was going to lose that fight anyway, with or without the illegal wraps (and as people have said, there's no proof he actually loaded his gloves against Cotto). He gave Margarito the kitchen sink, couldn't get past Margarito's chin though, which was nothing short of granite that night. Then Cotto lost his heart, actually Margarito broke Cotto's heart, sort of like Pacquiao, but you can argue Cotto was damaged goods then.

Is he fighting in Mexico when he returns?

To say he's just a good fighter is serving him an injustice.... His resume is not one of a 'good' fighter. Maybe not one of a great fighter so lets agree on very good,i'd accept that.

I'd agree we've seen the best of him but have no doubt that fight took a hell of a lot from Cotto. The tko loss was brutal.

Without the handwraps(which i think 99% of people would agree he used against Cotto) he would've beaten Margarito IMO. He may have still failed against the Mannys and Floyds of this world but he would've been far more of a threat. A blind man can see he's not been the same since that night in 08

No proof he has ever used illegal wraps in the ring, I wasn't too sold on the results of the wraps analysis either, a little odd for my liking.

Hmm he seems a bit of a slimy ******* to me now, letting his trainer take the fall pleading ignorance etc.

Saying that that insert looked like it wouldn't exactly turn your glove into a horseshoe it was a slither of a thing.
