Avoided man Antonio Margarito emerges from the shadows, smashing the Puerto Rican's unbeaten record to smithereens.

Thoughts on how the fight went.

Great fight and Cotto looked like the boogy man after. Cotto needs rest then a tune up fight will be good for him. Margarito is getting big fights from now on according to Arum and I cant wait to see them.

He will get a tune up fight most likely. I would like him to fight a guy like a Joel Julio to see where he is at. I hope he aint damaged goods. That would really suck.

Cotto outboxed him the first six rounds... Although Margo was following him everywhere and eating those flush shots. Cotto tired, suffered from a broken nose (I believe) plus all the movement he was making trying to avoid the constant pressure.

Margo pressured more after 7 eventually breaking Cottos will and Cotto took 2 knees in the 11th. To many uppercuts from Margo (excellent strategy might I add). Eva stopped it.

Cotto can win a rematch if he makes adjustments, such as clinching more ala Clottey. Conserving energy etc..

Margo deserves all the credit in the world!:deal

After re-watching the fight again and again...
the one thing that stick's out in my mind was Margarito's pressure.
(He was Jogging towards Cotto, not bouncing or walking, JOGGING!)

Incredible performance by both, What a battle.
Cotto will be back, no doubt about it.

Alot of people mention Cottos work for the first 6 rounds to be almost a total domination, but what they dont see is Margaritos work on Cottos body. In almost every exchange Cotto would land some clean shots but was getting ripped with uppercuts. I think Margarito knew exactly what he was doing and waited for the perfect moment to go for the kill.

I agree. I scored 2 of the first 6 rounds for Margo. Round 1 was Cotto's best round. He took a good amount of punishment in every other round.

At times it looked like an irresistible force meeting an immovable object. Margarito took some heavy Shots from Cotto, (he definitely has one of the hardest chins in boxing today) Cotto boxed beautifully the first 6 rounds until the constant pressure from Margarito finally got to him.

'Cotto was tough but by the sixth I felt my pressure was injuring him. I told my trainer I would knock him out' - Antonio Margarito after his WBA Welterweight Victory over previously undefeated Miguel Cotto.

I don't know Cotto on a serious personal level.. But I do know him and he will not sit back and take this one on the chin. You better believe he has fire in him right now that he has never had before.
