leapai wouldnt be getting many rounds out of him would he? Top ten in the world and sparring an overweight, unfit journeyman? Surely not the best prep for a 12 round fight! Noel was his main sparring partner for awhile, reckons he finds it hard to get sparring for Alex, so maybe a case of take what you can get...
i think its obvious that tilyard isnt fit, and alex cant get the best out of their sparring. but he's a motivated kid. plenty of guts, chin and power. just needs to work on diet and fitness. tharts something alex has addressed recently. so he will have a good example to follow.
that fight was rigged..... be sure of that Tilyard lands a nice right hand... Kimbo is nearly ****ed on his feet... so then Tilyard backs off the trigger and stops throwing short effective (relatively) punches. Tilyard sucks but he had Kimbo done and just suddenly stopped. Ill bet Shaw paid for Kimbo to win because he is a golden goose of sorts
Mate he has at least 3 or 4 months of dieting to rip that blubber off himself. The problem that big fellas like that have tho is dieting is so bland so you have to have really a strong will to be consistent. I don't see Tilyard having that motivation......ever! It's obvious he loves his tucker too much.
he could lose 20kg in a couple of months just by eating a low carb diet. no bread, rice, potato, catrrots, pumpkin, TARO, pasta. no fruit. NO BEER. if you must drink alcohol, spirits only with diet coke or whatever. no soft drink, no cordial. for sweetener, use low cal stuff. its only for a short time. once you get the weight off, its easier to keep off if you dont lose total control of your diet. just meat, beans, salad. roast meat, processed meat, fish, chicken, tofu, tempeh, etc. ive done it. its pretty easy actually. just a bit of planning and you can eat quite healthy and not get hungry.
Take it for what it was, entertainment. That many ppl were ther to see kimbo it wasnt funny. As for it being rigged, I can tell you it wasnt. Tilyard was there to knock Kimbo out, and very nearly did. Kimbo was in the right spot at the right time, and won. Happens all the time in the heavys. They are not world class, lighten up, it was fun to watch.
In an eight week camp for a 10 or 12 round fight, we start dieting from day dot and these are guys that are nowhere near over their fighting weight than Tilyard is. Your right, it is easy to diet...if your motivated to do it. What is the point in carb depleting for an explosive athlete? You need carbs for energy to be able to train. We generally do a break up of carbs, proteins and vitamins/minerals for our day meals and then strictly protein loading from 3.30 on. Seven meals a day. No alcohol and DEFINATELY no processed foods :nono It is a lot more scientific than what you have explained. Tilyard would do well to see a nutritionist if he is serious about getting in ring condition.
you carb deplete to make your body use stored energy...fat. you keep eating other food sources, to trick the body into thinking it isnt starving. if you do starve, your body gets smart and eats fast twitch muscle intead. you dont diet right up to the fight if youre a heavy. you just lose ther weight to have better cardio etc. you go back to include good carbs some time before a fight. the lighter weights shouldnt have to starve right up to a fight either. if they do, they arein the wrong division. as for processed meats. if it helps you to lose a lot of weight over a short period, and keeps you interested in dieting, it fine.
Carb depleting should only be done for a short amount of time if at all. I never mentioned starving, I am talking about eating the right food groups at the right time of day to ensure maximum benefit from the foods you eat, So yes, you should be dieting right up until fight night. Eating processed meat when your an elite athlete is like running a Ferrari on E10 unleaded! Your basically saying that if your a heavy your entitled to carry some blubber into a fight, dedicated athletes in an explosive sport like boxing don't carry blubber. Also if you train hard enough, your body will deplete it's energy stores anyway. You have a basic understanding of fighters diets but it is a lot more complex and scientific than what you are saying.
Hey Old Man, I was looking through the masters results and see Frank had a crack at it. What did he think of it? Wouldn't mind having a go at it myself.
