So what does Tim Bradley do now? He took a monumentally stupid gamble based soley on the words and whims of Bob Arum...and it hasn't paid off. Pac losing to Marquez (in truth) was the last thing Bradley wanted. Because now, Pac will fight either Mayweather or more likely JMM again...which means Tim doesn't get the big payday he's been banking on, lost virtually a year of career being idle for nothing, lost a lot of respect in the process, and now will now be backed into a position where he will now HAVE to fight Khan (which he didn't want to do) or he will be open to major ridicule and pretty much no other decent options on the table. His decision not to fight Khan during the summer has back fired on him. Agree?
If he is lucky enough, he can carry on winning, Pac will lose against Mayweather, probably rematch JMM then retire, by this time Khan will be the number 2 in the division, so Bradley will either get a Mayweather fight, or he will get to fight the WW champion Khan in some type of grudge match.
His decision not to fight Khan was due to a promotional contract dispute. I like Bradley & its a shame he's had these problems outside the ring, hopefully he'll be back in the ring soon.
Other way round, I think. His promotional contract dispute, was due to his decision to not fight Khan. And I agree with OP. Under Arum, he's prevented himself from being involved with the best 140 pounders (Khan, Matthysse, Maidana, etc), while he sits around for a massive pay day against a Pacquiao that he may not even see. However, there is the possibility of a Rios fight :think. But again, it's not likely that Arum will make that any time soon.
I thought it was because his contract ran out a few weeks after the proposed date for the Khan fight. Tim wanted a better deal & a new promoter & Khan fought McCloskey instead.:think I'm probably wrong but thats what I thought happened. Shame either way because Khan-Bradley is the best fight at 140.
I agree with the first part of your scenario, because I believe it will play out just like that, but he won't be getting a fight with Khan or Mayweather, because he now belongs to Top Rank and we all know Arum doesn't like working with Golden Boy. In other words, he is screwed.
He's not out of the running for a Pacquiao fight just yet. Pacquioa vs. Marquez 4 is not made yet. If Marquez decides to go against a 4th fight there's no gurantee that Pacquiao fights Mayweather there's a ton of issues that have to be ironed out between Mayweather and Pacquioa/Arum and that is not an easy fight to make. I could easily see a scenario where Marquez 4 doesn't come through and Mayweather/Floyd doesn't get made giving Bradley Pacquioa next.
If I remember correctly, from a few Dan Rafael articles, it went like this... Before the Alexander fight, Bradley signs an extension with Shaw up until June 30th. This extension was to cover the unofficial 140 tournament (Alexander and then the Khan-Maidana winner). After the respective semi-finals were completed, HBO only had a July date for the final – a couple of weeks after Bradley’s deal with Shaw was due to expire. Khan decides to have a warm-up bout with McCloskey in the mean time. To honour his intentions with Shaw and to ensure the almost compulsory fight with Khan goes through, Bradley verbally agrees with Shaw to extend the contract for a couple of weeks to accommodate the Khan fight. Bradley then changes his mind after hearing about the possibility of fighting Pacquiao some time in the future if he signs with Top Rank. A disgruntled Shaw, who was expecting Bradley to stick to his word, tries to secure Bradley for one more fight (Khan) that he felt he was owed. Bradley refused, and then the dispute ensued. In short, if Bradley fought Khan like he was supposed to, he would have been a free agent immediately after, and could have signed with Top Rank without any issues.
Supposedly the contract would re-enact and be on a several fight basis if he signed to fight anyone Khan included, that's what I've read Him and Khan can still fight though, who else has Khan got if Mayweather fights Pacman?
Maybe Shaw was butt ****ing him over the fight purses though, Corrales was pretty much dirt broke when he died because of Shaw. Mosley's ex wife talked about Corrales had been completely scammed by Shaw
Backfired big time. He also didnt look good against casamayor. All this for one big payday which may never come.
Big head Bradley must be kicking him self that he didn't take the fight now that a Pac/May fight looks so unlikely. This is what you get for being a duck.
