Tim Bradley Speaks: ''I have other interests, Khan is not in that Plan''

    Cathedral City boxer Timothy Bradley said Sunday that Amir Khan is not part of his plans moving forward, thinking a bout for the undisputed 140-pound championship won't attract the attention it deserves.

    “I'm in a good position now and I want to take full advantage of it,” Bradley said. “I have other interests I'm trying to get to. Khan is not in that plan.”

    Khan defeated Zab Judah with a fifth-round knockout Saturday night to add the Judah's IBF light welterweight title to his WBA title. Bradley owns the other two major belts, the WBC and WBO titles.
    Originally, there were negotiations for Khan to fight Bradley rather than Judah on Saturday, but Bradley turned down the fight. The amount Bradley would have made was reported in the range of $1.4 million to $1.8 million, which would have been the largest payday of his career.
    In the leadup to the Khan-Judah fight, Bradley was heavily criticized for not taking the fight. And Bradley knows he'll continue to get criticized for not being interested in a potential December matchup.

    “Like I said, I'm looking for the bigger fish, the bigger fights — the Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fights,” Bradley said. “I've paid my dues, I've done more than anyone at 140. I've done exactly what I've wanted to do.

    “I know there will be a lot of criticism from everyone. But that won't bother me. I'm going to do what I'm going to do. I'm going to do what's best for my family and my career. Bash me all you want, I'm eating over here. I'm happy and that's pretty much it. I'm not worried about anyone.”

    As for now, Bradley has other issues he has to deal with, such as the lawsuit filed in Florida by his former co-promoters, Gary Shaw and Ken Thompson. If the lawsuit is settled, then Bradley would have to look for a new promoter.

    Bradley was asked if Golden Boy Promotion, which represents Khan, were to call and offer a large amount of money to fight, would he take it. Bradley said that scenario is unlikely.

    So until summer 2012 - when Pac and May will be available - he's planning on just sitting on his ass doing nothing?

    Khan is such a **** for saying he'd take the shorter end of the stick financially to fight him, saying it was money issues would have saved Bradley's face, but no, Khan had to be a bottom feeding *****.

    Gotta love Tim's warrior mentality, should change his moniker from 'Desert Storm' to Timothy 'Paycheck' Bradley :D

    Thing is, his part of the Floyd or Manny paycheck would probably be 10%. With Khan he could get 45 or 50%, meaning he'd probably get around the same. He's just not wanting to lose his precious 0.

    not long until he gets stripped of the WBC title in fact he should be stripped of both titles.

    Tim Bradley is ducking Khan imo. He won't get the Pac fight for about 14 months. If he were to fight and beat Khan he would bring more to the table when negotiating for Pacman.

    I hope they strip him of both titles and make the Khan vs Guerrero/Maidana for all the belts. He has no desire to defend either belts.

    I'm very disappointed in Bradley comments, theres no way to sugar coat it. You can't go from in the beginning of the year saying "quit running Khan", then getting offerd 50/50 on everything and a career high payday, to the point now saying I will not fight Khan.

    People need to understand that a fighter doesn't have to be afraid of being PHYSICALLY harmed by another in order to duck them. They do have to be afraid to LOSE which is what Bradley is. He's afraid to LOSE, thus, losing his chance at the big 2. Therefore, won't take the challenge.

    Bradley is all that wrong with boxing. No on wants to see him in a one sided loss against fighter who he has business being in the ring with. Until he beats Khan he has earned his dues.

    If Morales wins I can see him facing Khan with the vacant WBC title put up for grabs as well.

    Just a shame after all the positive noise he made about fighting Khan he seems to have done a complete U-turn.

    I know he has had issues with his promoter but he isnt a big ticket seller & this sort of behaviour isnt going to raise his profile.

    I still think Khan would beat him by a comfortable margin

    I know, it makes no sense to me that he would do this for money. He'd be almost guaranteed a fight with Pac or Mayweather if he beat Khan and would bring a fair amount of cash and hype to the table with Khan on his record. The only other angle I can see is he is thinking he could beat both of them and we could potentially see a Pac/Bradley and Mayweather/Khan next year, with the winners all facing. Seems real unlikely though.
