This is why it is impossible to take Tim Smith of the New York Daily News seriously.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/m...2010-03-03_fightin_chance_for_floydshane.html

Really? REALLY? Shane Mosley is #3 behind Pacquiao and Mayweather?

I love Shane, but I think that after losing to Cotto and struggling like crazy with a beyond-worn Mayorga, the brilliant win over Plaster Margarito isn't going to vault him into that spot.

I think people named Dawson, Hopkins, Marquez, Williams, Donaire and even Cotto might want to argue the point.

Really? REALLY? Is that why the entire world was disgusted when Team Mayweather smeared Pacquiao, tried to anoint himself Drug Tester For All Of Boxing and then ran away from the fight over 24 days and not 14?

You're saying, Tim, that the guy who blew up Cotto -- Cotto who beat Mosley -- isn't a better fight for Mayweather? You're saying that a 38-year-old guy with a recent loss and a to-the-death battle with Mayorga is a better match for Joy than the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, the Fighter Of The Decade?

    Really?

Why do you think Mosley agreed to it and Pac didn't, Tim?

How many PED's has Pacquiao admitted to, Tim? How many times has Pacquiao been caught, like Mosley was caught? Like Toney was caught? Like Roy Jones was caught? Like Mayweather was outed for using Xylocaine?

But you didn't mention that, did you, Tim? Nah. You forgot that part, right?

Mosley should be tested. He earned that infamy.

Pacquiao, however, did not. And that's why he's not bowing down -- like you are Timmuh -- to Mayweather's BS.

You're an embarrassment, Tim Smith. That's why you showed up for this press conference, Mayweather and Mosley, and you didn't find the stones to show up for Pacquiao and Clottey's press conference in NYC.

Ellerbe may as well have you on the payroll, Tim. You have the script down, you've picked sides and you're biased as f*ck.

    Just two things though, Tim:

    * Better hope your guy doesn't get KTFO by Mosley

    * Ain't no more Mosleys after Shane

Joy Boy lucked out when the earthquake hit Haiti. His PPV will do big numbers, bigger than Pac's, because of the 24/7, two American fighters and Mosley is a draw.

But, Pacquiao's still the top dog -- the Fighter Of The Decade and everyone's Pound-For-Pound #1 -- and he's still calling the shots. He may be Congressman Pac soon, too.

Who's your guy going to fight next? Will he go back to Magic Hatton after Shane -- like Oscar, Hatton and Gatti -- helps him sell the fight?

Or will your guy man up and face his fears?

Or will he hide behind the testing, again?

I think we know the answer to that.

Tim Smith is a biased reporter. But that's okay, we need biased reporters in the world of boxing.

I thought Smith was going to break his Twinkies when Floyd walked away from the Pacquiao fight.

He was furious at Pacquiao and just couldn't accept that Joy had decided that Killer Pac was too much for him. That column was hilarious, you could see the blood vessels bursting in Timmuh's head.

Not much wrong with the article to be honest, you can point to him saying that Mosley will give him a harder time than Pacquiao but when you've got Manny's trainer saying they wouldn't put him in with Mosley at 147 then I don't see whats wrong with him thinking he will be a tougher fight for Floyd.

I wonder how much kickbacks he's receiving from Mosley and Floyd to hype their fights.

Thing is, Smith's so sold out, Team Mayweather doesn't need to pay him. He's just a fanboy masquerading as a journalist now.

Even if he doesn't get a cent from Mayweather or Mosley, he'd write the same stuff. So, no need to pay him a dime.

He isn't biased......do you know what that word means?

He has opinion which he supports with some facts and some conjecture.

Relax, so he thinks Mosley is a tougher fight for PBF.

Maybe he is wrong, or right.

If PBF loses to Mosley then what will you say?

Oh Pac would have beaten him for sure!

That sir would make you a candidate to be called bias.

Because Shane beating PBF has nothing to do with Pac beating him. And if Shane loses that doesn't mean Pac would.

Learn to accept others have different opinions. Tim didn't say his opinion was a fact. He just made a prediction.

Let's see, this guy is so biased and such an embarrassment that you probably read his articles all the time don't you? Hook, line, and sinker.

I don't take Tim Smith seriously. Or most mainstream boxing writers for that matter.

ALL people are biased. It is childish or naive not to think so.

In the context of how you are using the word. You are using it INCORRECTLY!

Even if you are saying Tim is unaware of his Biasness you haven't shown that he is bias.

He has a different opinion than you perhaps. He perhaps comes to a different conclusion off of very similar facts than you.

But none of that makes him bias.

It is possible to come to a different conclusion off the same facts. Not always but sometimes.

All people are doing is quoting him, and saying he is bias. The guy having an opinion doesn't make him bias.

So again, I ask do the people of ESB understand the meaning of bias?

Actually the OP attempted to show Smith's bias. It is a judgment call but he nevertheless attempted to do it.

What context? I think you are playing the semantics game.

You are right - not one particular or conclusion will show bias but a systematic one can.
