Mercer got whooped by Kimbo and then beats a #5 boxer in europe, hmm?

This is gona be fun to watch someone from MMA going into boxing. Tim Sylvia gives shits to a lot of MMA fighters because of his sprawl and long reach. Seeing him deal with someone trained heavily in boxing is going to be fun.

I don't think Mercer has "trained heavily" in anything in quite sometime now.

W/e he's a boxer and it's his sport. Whether or not he trained hard he's much more of a test for MMA fighter coming into a boxing scene than Kimbo in MMA. Mercer beating a very solid boxer is a great indication of it.

I'd like to see that fight.

Mercer got choked out by the worst MMA heavyweight on the planet. But that was in a cage. He'll crush Big Tim in a boxing match.

I think he can beat Sylvia, Ive never seen Timmy be successful at any kind of ground game. BTW Mercer is beyond shot.

He did quite well on the ground with an Abu Dhabi Champion in Jeff Monson. Sylvias only been submitted by just JiuJitsu twice to badasses in Mir and Nogueira while Arlovski and Fedor had basically knocked his head off before the subs.

I forgot about the Monson fight lol. Thats where Monson couldnt do ****. He was too short. But im talking more about Timmy talking someone down. Im sure he'll try it with Mercer if he wants to win.

Yeah I dont recall any Tim Sylvia takedowns but thats not apart of his game. Hes spent years training with guys like Mike Whitehead im sure whos takedown skills are halfway decent more then enough to get down a total novice like Mercer.

Yea, especially since this is a boxing match and Mercer totally won't expect it.

Tim Sylvia was thoroughly outboxed by Couture.

    :lol:It would be HILLARIOUS though!

I don't know. I hope Sylvia can make a decent showing of himself even if he loses. Ray Mercer IS really old...

Mercer was old even in the 1990's, he had a late start in boxing, was like 30-32 when he turned pro. I think at best, the Mercer fight with Sylvia will end up like the Don Steele fight. Big, strong, tough man, against the faded Mercer, but cant knock Mercer out, evidentially isnt hitting as hard as he thought he could...and Mercer knocks him through the ropes.
