The return of Tim Tszyu at middleweight against the undefeated Velazquez 18-0-1-15 KO's at the ICC arena in beautiful Darling Harbor Sydney.

I don't know much about Velazquez but this will be Tim's first fight with new trainer Pedro Diaz so I am looking forward to this one and may even attend the fight.

Sam Goodman returns in the co feature against undefeated Tyler Blizzard.

If Tim can even get back to 75% of what he was I could see him picking up a belt at middleweight.

You think he could beat Janibek, Adames, or Lara? Or do you mean if Janibek moves up?

I will have to see how he looks against Velazquez first.

It depends how quickly Lara falls off a cliff. But he’s a seriously brilliant talent. I don’t think Tim gets anywhere near him in all honesty. Lara creates angles everywhere and Tim is, based on his career so far, too much of a straight ahead fighter to give Lara too many problems. Tim’s lateral movement (or lack of) brings him undone.

I’d give him a better chance against the other two.

Yeah, I don't think he beats any of them, honestly. As you say, his defense is extremely basic, and his chin has been cracked now as well. I don't see how moving up in weight is going to help him here. He was getting hit at will and hurt badly by Fundora and Bakhram, so someone like Janibek would be a pretty one-sided beatdown for as long as it lasted. I could see him being outworked by Adames. That might not be as brutal, but I don't think Tim has what it takes to get to the elite level at 154 or 160. I imagine Ortiz or Boots will move up to 160 at some point as well which will make it an even more daunting task.

I haven’t seen quite enough of Janibek to form an opinion either way.

Adames is beatable though. Tim would be a live chance there.

I like Tim's attitude of picking an undefeated Mexican fighter with a good knockout ratio even though he is not well known we all know Mexican's have a rep for being tough as nails. He could easily of picked a domestic Aussie fighter or an older over the hill name.

Agreed. Most would have gone for a soft touch opponent from where Tim is at but he is a different kind of beast. Doesn't want to know about easy paths.

Tim should move to the US and train under Garcia. I think Garcia can enhance his aggressive style and tighten that defense. His new trainer has Cuban background so thats pure boxing and defensive mindset. Tim is 31 years old. To old to change style in my opinion. As soon as things don’t go as plan he will be right back as a brawler.

Love the enthusiasm behind Tsyzu, but he is just not that guy. I don't think he'll be the same after the loss to that Chechen.

I think he has the weapons but he’s a dumb fighter. Or at least, he had idiots in his corner. Or is a slow learner.

Let’s see what happens now but this is last chance saloon really.
