My point was that he is the most probable candidate because he is American and because Spence-Crawford had gargantuan build-up (years, literally) and narrative, in spite of some ugly, disappointing facts about the timing and state of both fighters. For the third time—USA had a fighter of the year in 2020. Teofimo Lopez.
Belts don’t determine who is the A-side rather it’s the economic monopoly power market maker who is the A side. Shakur will fight Tank but he knows he is not ready yet. Also Haney is not ready to cash out yet because there is a chance that when you fight Tank you won’t be the same anymore.
So beating a scared, American hype job in Charlo would have gotten T. Tszyu FOTY? I mean, that's what many Tszyu fans called him. Charlo isn't a tough fight for Tszyu. How can beating a guy levels below Tszyu get him any cred? What, undisputed at 154? Inoue or Crawford for FOTY.
What more can Tszyu do? Fight guys that aren't even there? That's how good he is. He makes '' Fighters '' flee the division.
Inoue will get it unless there is a big upset or if Bud goes to 154 & beats Tim before the year ends Anyone who mentions Tank here needs to get their head checked Fury isn't doing anything great by taking a fight he should have taken a long time ago instead of putting on circus shows with MMA guy
First of all, fighting Canelo instead of Tszyu doesn't mean Charlo was scared. This is the narrative the Tszyu boys like to believe. It was a smart move. Charlo had nothing to lose and way more money to gain by fighting Canelo. You would do the same thing if you were in Charlo's position. I would too. If you say different, you are either lying or stupid. As far as FOTY year goes, Tszyu did not beat the caliber of opponents or accomplish as much as Inoue or Crawford did. You can discredit Crawford's win over Spence, but being the first fighter to get undisputed in the 4 belt era is a great accomplishment. I think that exceeds anything Tszyu did in 2023.
But being America doesn't determine who's most likely to win FOTY. Hasn't happened since 2011 so don't see why it would happen now
That's what fanbois like you say. But Tank will never fight a real champion if he doesn't accept his opponent is the champion. He can pretend to be a side for the rest of his career. Means nothing if he doesn't fight the best.
I never called Charlo a hype job. It is not his ability that is being questioned it is his courage to face a monster like Tszyu.
You think going up 2 divisions to face a top 10 P4P fighter in Canelo Is less scary than facing Tszyu? Grant it, losing to Tszyu would be a bigger loss due to losing all them belts, but I just think it was bad timing for Tszyu. I think the fight was just delayed for obvious reasons. The fight will happen.........I hope.
He had no intention of winning the fight with Canelo he fought just to survive so yes it was less scary for sure. The fight will never happen Charlo is not going back to 154 he might return at 160 in a couple of years when he needs more money.
