Good Point CST80 But he's not facing a human. He' facing Terminator Zoo. Judgement Day for Fundora. Rock, paper, scissors. Mate.
Even if Mendoza has better one punch power than Tszyu (questionable) the thing that Tszyu has that nobody at 154 has is relentless stamina with his punches. He hits hard and he keeps hitting. Mendoza does not have the power punch volume that Tszyu has and that accumulation of power shots is what ends his opponents. Fundora will not be able to stand up to the barrage of heavy punches that are coming his way. He is awfully easy to hit and Tszyu is a genius at finding the correct range (he may have learned this from a close relative who was one of the greatest range finders in history) and Fundora does not have the chops to stop it from happening. Fundora is not only going to take a fearful beating from Tszyu, especially to the body, but he will be pissing blood for weeks afterwards.
Most (if not all) of the time once the chin is cracked it doesnt ever recover fully. Fundora will have decreased punch resistance. Tim is ascending too and I expect a competitive fight for ~4 rounds but Tim gone take over then
I very much agree. I also believe Fundora will not allow Tim to fight his fight for the entire fight. Tim will need to adapt at some point. If he is able to make the changes and win, then the sky's the limit for Tim. As of right now, he has done everything right and seems to have a fighters mentality. If he now shows a higher ring IQ and adaptability, he may be that special dude. But still, I don't think it will be an easy fight for either man.
I agree, people are overlooking the fact that Fundora was beating up Mendoza up until the stoppage, and also the fact that Mendoza is two inches taller than Tzsyu and arguably quicker. Unlike Fundora, Tzsyu was very cautious of Mendoza's power early doors (so much so that the fight could have easily been scored a draw because of Tzsyu's lack of activity in the first six rounds). I think if Fundora has learnt from his loss and is willing to make small adjustments I definitely fancy his chance of the upset.
Mendoza was beaten to a pulp by Tszyu. I’m not sure what fight you were watching. Tszyu having a look at Mendoza for a few rounds is just smart boxing. People are carrying on like Tszyu was scared of Mendoza which is utter nonsense. All Tim was doing was finding out what he could exploit and getting his range right before he took control of things. If you ever saw his dad fight you would have seen exactly the same thing. But apparently, according to this thread Mendoza hits harder and is quicker than Tszyu. If this was even remotely true Mendoza would be headlining this card and not Tszyu. Fundora is not the bogeyman. He’s simply an odd looking stringbean at 154. He has been sat down by Lubin and almost decapitated by Mendoza, who had more good moments in their fight than is being suggested. He also went 12 rounds with Ocampo, a guy who folded like a deck chair from the very first decent punch Tszyu landed on him. If Fundora does his usual thing and stands in front of Tszyu and tries to trade he has no chance. If Fundora fights at range, with that pathetic jab of his, he also has no chance. Fundora’s only hope is to catch Tszyu early whilst Tszyu is trying to work him out. Otherwise Tszyu is going to tenderise him with more body shots than he has ever felt before. And that will empty Fundora’s gas tank very quickly.
& nobody else but us will see it. I just ordered this thing for $70 Wtf I’m an enabler!? plus it was a struggle to find on Amazon prime app. At least on Shotime it was front & center on the home page This thing was buried under several layers at the bottom of their sports Page!!
Tszyu already beat an emaciated lanky giant with similar dimensions to Fundora going on 30 years ago now This content is protected
You are right that Mendoza was beaten up by Tszyu; but boxing is scored on a round by round basis, and Tszyu was awfully tepid for the first six rounds. I have no problem with the fight being awarded to Tszyu, but with less favourable judges I do believe the fight could have been scored a draw. Going on precedent I'm happy to accept Tszyu as favourite, but personally I think Fundora has a major chance. Fundora hits hard and has freakish dimensions at 154; if Tszyu is wary of Fundora's power how does he plan on getting inside Fundora's insane reach?
Yes, Tim’s a lil bit socially awkward with that stuff but I still like him. What about the rants of Anthony The Man Mundine? Talk about a poor man’s Ali wannabe. Best not to go there - lol. I would say Fundora is more Slenderman than Goliath. How the hell can you be 6’6” and fight at 154 lb - I’ll admit, he doesn’t look as emaciated as I would’ve guessed for that height and weight Tim’s old man Kostya often made good copy with his comments, especially with his limited English - with less vocabulary to mince words and obfuscate, Kostya’s comments were direct, no BS - and often witty. Similar to some of the conservative but clever utterings of The Brown Bombed. I was saying on another thread that Joe Frazier came out with some pearlers that were fresh and original - but people listened more to the louder and attention seeking Ali who kept repeating himself .
KT took us for a very nice ride all those years ago, particularly us Aussies. Very talented and entertaining fighter. Btw Serge, who’s the lady in your avatar? She looks a bit of alright.
Maybe mate, maybe not but in order to get that fight scored as a draw you would have to give every one of the first 6 rounds to Mendoza. That, even with the most cooked judges in history is not possible. You can make a case for 3-3 or even 4-2 to Mendoza if you were being very generous but he did not win all 6. Tszyu most certainly won every round after that. In terms of Fundora, to beat Tszyu he has to KO him because he is unlikely to survive 12 rounds of brutal body work. And nobody has come up with a credible way for Fundora to win other than he’s tall and awkward. I agree that he was in control of the Mendoza fight but this is also an oversimplification on a couple of fronts. Firstly, Mendoza was having some success on the inside and did land some good body shots. It wasn’t a one-way fight. And secondly, his chin was ultimately cracked pretty easily by a guy who hadn’t landed too much to the head in that contest. And it’s not as though it was a lucky shot late on, Fundora still had to get through another 5 rounds against a strong guy with good stamina who can throw bombs. At some point Mendoza was probably going to catch him anyway because there was no way Fundora was knocking him out. He’d already taken several of Fundora’s famed uppercuts and did not look even close to falling. Now I may very well be wrong and I’ll be one of the first to come in here and congratulate Fundora and those who gave him a chance should he win. But frankly, I just don’t see it. I’ve been watching replays of Fundora’s fights trying to find an angle and I just can’t. Aside from being tall and awkward there is nothing Fundora does better than Tszyu. He’s as loose as **** with his defence, he’s got no jab so Tszyu is going to get inside at will, he’s not as durable as Tszyu and he sure as hell isn’t as strong.
KT was a freak. One of the best I have ever seen at any weight, from any era. Absolute ****ing monster of a fighter.
Yes, I literally love Tszyu like a father, a son, a brother, a husband, a deity etc. The stunning actress Lynne Frederick This content is protected This content is protected
