I'm confident Bohachuk could absorb those shots and remain upright. Bohachuk took bombs from Ortiz, a big puncher in his own right, and while his legs seemed to buckle a bit, he didn't seem in any mortal danger of kissing the canvas.
The first knockdown was a flush left hook which Tszyu didn't see coming which made it worse, Tszyu is generally abit more defensively strong early in fights, think he thought he could blow him out of there and it backfired.
His chin isn't great and he seems to have extremely low iq when he's hurt. He won't make it far in boxing if he keeps fighting like this. He will be taking more canvas naps if he doesn't learn some defense. He needs to hire someone like Floyd Mayweather, Sr. The best trainer in the game bar none.
He wasn’t just getting hit flush he was flat on his feet and the two hooks in the second round he actually looked like he turned into the direction and met them with his face. He was also walking on to some short uppercuts, elite fighters just don’t do these things. Based on that fight I don’t think his chin is relevant, it was such an odd tactic I don’t know what to say. His chin was on display and his guard was weak with elbows wide coming forward, he was a gift for anyone fighting like this.
it would be interesting to know how much video work Tszyu done.. in the lead up he said he hadn't watched anything of him, didn't need to.. I believe that was just talking / selling the fight but if that's true... dead set dumb
The underrating of this comment has led me to downgrade the quality rating of the forum. I apologize for having caused all of this single-handedly.
He does have some defensive flaws, but most of it can be fixed by punching selection or knowing when to punch. He trys fighting fire with fire against someone who is faster, sharper and hits hard. Don't stay in the pocket and trade. Stay out of range, control the distance with the jab. He uses the jab as a range finder to set up the power. That works with lesser opponents, not top operators. He just needs to tweak a few things and he should be alright.
