After the Adilson Rodriguez fight in the summer of 1989, Ferdie Pacheco was going through a list of possible future opponents for Evander. Tim Witherspoon’s name came up and Ferdie said that if he’s motivated Tim could give him fits
Yeah and Page was way past his best days and Ruddock hit him with everything and didn’t drop him. Page had an amazing chin!! Now Ruddock pretty much rendered him helpless at the time of the stoppage, but still the point stands he never left his feet. Page was a slick Boxer who when switched on could look great like against Coetzee but when switched off could get knocked out (stopped) by a Mark Wills. I have such a fondness in my heart for all those 80s heavyweights, because that’s when I started watching boxing as a young kid. yeah, they played hot potato with the WBA Belt, but it was exciting because it seemed like anybody could lose at any time, with the exception of Holmes and then Tyson.
Willis absolutely poleaxed Page in their 2nd fight, he literally winded up a right hand and flattened Page like a pancake. One of the most devastating KO's I've ever seen.
yeah that KO is amazing. Wills lands a literal screaming right hand to flatten Page. Funny enough, Page did actually get up, but he was out on his feet pretty much.
I think that was on the under card of Whitaker vs Nelson. HBO didn’t show the whole fight but they briefly showed a clip inbetween rounds of the main event
