It sounded like " I'll do the talking you do the fng." but who knows? I remember watching this fight live. Tim did well in the early rounds but got lazy late. He wasn't able to land the " can opener"

Yeah, he's repeating what the referee said a few minutes earlier.
I heard the referee, he said clearly "I'll do the talking, you do the fighting."

But I've listened to Lampley's interpretation a few times now, wasn't sure if my ears were deceiving me ... Freudian slip on his part, methinks.

Witherspoon should have beat Donald, it was all downhill for Tim after this fight.
Donald wasn't a bad boxer though. Nothing special but competent enough.

yeah I haven't watched it in 18 years but I remember it looking pretty even until the mid to later rounds and Tim just started getting lazy. He was long passed his prime by then but Donald was still a beatable opponent.

I forgot this fight even happened. To me, Witherspoon's last important fight where he looked good was against Mercer in 1996. He was on a pretty good streak and was coming in to his fights in shape. In this fight against Donald, Tim came in at 237 lbs. He was lighter against Mercer. I think the Mercer fight was the last big one where he was in prime shape.
