It is funny. Be Tyson Fury. Go on. Do it. Be 6'9". Be 270. Have great footwork and defensive skills. Go on. Hurry up. Do it. Be him.

You have as much chance of doing those things as Witherspoon.

Holmes-era Witherspoon is looking very good from rounds one to nine, keeping just enough pressure on Deontay to unnerve him. Tim's jab does a good job of keeping Wilder from launching properly. He nearly decks Deontay in the 9th with a looping overhand right, but gets knocked down and nearly out in the 10th, barely making the count and looking a little cross-eyed. Wilder starts throwing wild shots ala Shavers but Tim holds, holds, holds. A glancing right floors Tim again, but he makes the count in 3 looking fine, shaking his head.

In round 11 Tim lands the overhand again and again on an exhausted Deontay, who's having a hard time holding him. Deontay staggers back to his stool, clearly his legs are just about finished. In the final round Tim sets up a perfect jab-overhand combination (the impact/sound of the right makes everyone in range wince). Wilder sags to the ropes. Witherspoon throws a bunch of missed shots, but the last overhand mega-violently snaps Wilder's head, loud and vicious enough for the ref to stop the fight, with protestations from Wilder's camp coming immediately as Deontay stands glassy-eyed (looking for a place to fall). A clear TKO in 12, with Tim quite comfortably ahead on the cards, despite the 10-7 round.

Wilder is somewhat fragile and conserves energy a lot IMO because he gasses easily and has durability concerns. He carries his power late due as much to his pacing and conservation of energy as anything. For the amount of fights he's had he really hasn't faced many top flight opponents.

He would have a punchers chance against Witherspoon with Witherspoon being the favorite. I actually agree Witherspoon has become overrated mostly based on his good showing in a loss. He's got some good wins tho.

Wilder will be sitting back careful as anything looking for the right hand and Witherspoon will be working his way into punching range. Witherspoon will absolutely be ahead on points as rounds pile up and much depends if Wilder can land that right hand and how Witherspoon takes it. On the flip side Witherspoon has the power to shorten Wilders night.

Numerous people in here were pointing out Wilders shortcomings a long time before Fury dominated him. They were proven to be bang on.

Witherspoon would be the second best guy Wilder has faced with some distance between himself and third.

Witherspoon TKO with wilder having that punchers chance.
