If Tim Witherspoon shows up motivated and in shape he can win. I don’t think wilder has the ring smarts to figure out Spoon’s awkward style. Tim had a long reach for a man of only 6’3” too so the height difference might not be a huge problem. Wilder’s power will always be a factor in any fight though

I just read the life and crimes of don king.. Witherspoon was supposed to get 2 million for the Bruno fight and he only made 95K. He said he was not motivated constantly getting ripped off by Don and Carl King

The first right hand of the fight had Spoon on his heels.

How many times in his career did Tim Witherspoon show up motivated and in shape? (LOL)

Witherspoon was a quitter. He'd quit during fights. He'd quit during training. He wasn't motivated before he fought for Don King. He wasn't motivated when he fought for Don King. He wasn't motivated after he fought for Don King.

    Wilder by KO.

Put me down for Wilder laying out Witherspoon. Wilder is underrated atm, and Tim was not a motivated Tyson Fury.

Larry Holmes must have missed him on one of those unmotivated nights ;)

Holmes always had problems with boxers who jabbed with him. Carl Williams closed Larry's eye and matched him jab for jab and appeared to win their fight. Holmes got into a jabbing contest with Spoon, too.

Wilder would have little trouble with the shorter, fatter Spoon. Bigfoot Martin beat Tim Witherspoon, on a night when all Spoon had to do was win and he'd get a WBO title fight with Moorer. Spoon couldn't even get up enough energy to beat Bigfoot.

    Wilder easy.

Tell That to the dozen or so ranked opponents who lost to Witherspoon. ;)

    A dozen or so? (LOL)

Tim Witherspoon didn't beat a rated fighter after he turned 30.

And the six or seven alphabet-rated fighters he did defeat in his 20s usually came by majority decision. (Snipes - Majority decision, Page - Majority decision, Tubbs - Majority decision, Mike Williams-Split decision).

Spoon didn't exactly shine, even in his heyday. People seem to forget how widely panned most of those performances were.

The first right hand Wilder lands is the beginning of the end. You didn't have to be a classy boxer to handle Spoon, as Bigfoot and Bonecrusher and the gang showed.
