Bowe is a bit bigger and a bit better for mine. He'd be a handful for just about anyone ever at his best. He could beat some solid names i reckon.
Bowe would have eaten more jabs off of world champs, Holmes and Thomas than `Spoon did because he had a much better defense than Bowe who never had to face the fast constant jabs off fighters like Holmes and Thomas who were known for exploiting that punch very often.
`Spoon thew 31 jabs in the first round of his bout with Thomas and landed hardly any whereas Bowe threw the same amount vs Holy in their rematch and landed around 10 because of his reach, `Spoon stood right on the center line in front of Thomas if he did that with Bowe he would have ate more jabs than the mobile Holy did, Holyfield`s defense vs Bowe in that fight was much better than `Spoon`s was vs Thomas, so Bowe would have caught `Spoon more than he caught Holy in their rematch.
I see a close one that could go either way. Witherspoon has enough in his armory to disrupt Bowe's offense and take advantage of gaps in his defense; enough to get Bowe thinking. If I had to bet on it, I'd take a punt on Bowe edging a decision, in a low-output chess-match style of battle. But, I wouldn't be all that confident.
Could go either way. Witherspoon might be the best puncher Bowe fought. I'd side with Bowe via narrow margin if we are talking about their best nights.
They were similar in someways. Their size helped them win fights and they were skilled. I would have to go with Bowe because I think he did more with his career when it counted, but Witherspoon had a great fight hand which could hurt Bowe.. Bowe by decision.
