    I think he could have beaten them all except maybe Lewis, he could have beat an early 90`s Lewis pre-Steward.

    I think he could have beaten a lot of them too. With his bouts with Mercer and Gonzalez, Spoon looked better than most of those heavyweights. I have him definitely beating Ruddock, Bruno, Rahman, Norris, Stewart, Briggs, Morrison, and Seldon. I have him possibly beating Grant, Moorer, Foreman, Cooper, and McCall. And I have him losing to Tyson, Holyfield, Tua, and Lewis in the most graceful fashion possible.

    Assuming we are talking about a prime Spoon... he beats all of them except Holyfield & Lewis. If Witherspoon fought McCall I would say 19 times out of 20 he wins a unanimous decision. Spoon was one of the top three HW talents of the 1980s... to be honest I would not be extremely shocked if he could beat holyfield and Lewis by MD's... Although I would not favor him.

    It's really amazing. I think Spoon could have pretty much had a free hand in the heavyweight division once again, losing to a select few of the greats, but dominating the division mostly. I did forget to mention Bowe though, who we know defeats Spoon. But Spoon was an excellent infighter himself, and I'm sure that would be a bruising brawl and a close one, although I'm sure we would know who would win that one. Spoon just isn't the kind of guy that anybody could dominate, when he was at his best.

    He really was just more well-rounded than nearly all of those guys. Those guys were almost all punchers, or they were boxers with some power. Spoon could box, punch, he had great defense, he could literally fight in any position, any stance. Great fighter.

    Ooops... Forgot to read the top part of your post Walker... If it is the Witherspoon from the Mercer Bout... Hmmm. A 38 year old Spoon still may be able to accomplish quite a bit against that list. He would probably lose to McCall, Lewis and holyfield.

    Interesting fact...McCall was once a sparring partner for spoon. ( as well as Tyson)

    I have usually thought that McCall could beat nearly anyone if he tried really hard. But sometimes McCall didn't try at all, and that's why he lost to some of the guys he lost to. I mean, we know he could have beaten Bruno and Orlin Norris, and gave Lewis a heck of a time in the rematch, and maybe even beat him. Spoon was just way busier and I have him winning. If McCall is as busy as Spoon is, I have to give it to McCall by a hair.

    Why put Witherspoon in at age 38? Witherpsoon of the mid 1980's ( his prime ) would probably beat quite a few of these 90's heavyweights.

    Green = likely win 80% of the time
    Blue = like win 60% of the time
    Yellow = close to 50/50
    Orange = likely loss 60% the time
    Red = likely loss 80% of the time.

    Beats Grant, Moorer, Foreman, Cooper, Tua, Ruddock, Bruno, Rachman, Norris, Stewart, Briggs, Selson, Morrison and McCall .. He might actually have the chin, defense, size and power to actually beat Lewis .. Not Tyson or Holyfield ..

    I was talking more hypothetical fights that could have happened rather than prime-for-prime talks.

    I see what you're saying about Lewis; he didn't seem like a fighter who could go fully toe-to-toe with a big puncher and win. Tyson was not peak anymore either, but I have always believed the two of them would be a great matchup with a very close decision in the end. Holyfield was just far too mobile, tough, and high-stamina to lose to Spoon.
